Film The Batman

I love Batman but it looks like stuff we've seen a dozen times at this point.

Who knew that there was a limit to how much you can do with a depressing billionaire who dresses like a fecking bat? :p

It doesn't how good the actor, everyone looks silly talking in that suit.

Adam West is still the best guy to have played Batman.

Looks like yet another film where the villain gets caught - gasp - intentionally.

I reckon there'll be a bit when someone is so appalled by what they see that they vomit.

Paul Dano will be good, rate him as an actor.

The batmobile looks shit though, sorry. Looks like something from F&F films. The action has a Sin City feel to it for some reason. Think it's the lighting.

Anyone with keen interest in film will surely know by now that Pattinson is a very, very good actor.
You don't work with top directors like Cronenberg if you're bad/wooden.

I was worried about him but he is a decent actor. That Edward Cullen role was almost suicide but he's a good enough actor which helped him save his career.
To be fair, it was his first major role. You don't reject that when you're starting out in the biz. :D

Vin Diesel has a cameo.

There's actually a Vampire Bat in the comics. Think he's called Man-Bat. Oh the originality.

Hate the suit, and I hate that “vengeance” line. It’s not bad ass, it makes it look like someone trying to be badass who doesn’t know how to show someone being badass. Like someone who forgets their keys makes a big show checking all thier pockets, instead of just turning back around and getting their keys. Saying nothing would be a lot more powerful statement in that scene.
And for something that is supposed to be about the “detective” part of the greatest detective, that’s one action packed trailer.
I also can’t stand Zoe Kravitz. But hey, I was wrong about Batfleck. So maybe I’ll be wrong here too.

Have faith, Norm.

Is it just me or does his legs look too skinny :nervous:

(Says the armchair football fan)

Pattison’s Bruce Wayne makes him look like a emo band boy reject instead of a billionaire playboy.
Not familiar with how the traditional Bruce Wayne was meant to be, but I grew up taking Tim Burton's Batman as the default of how Bruce Wayne was. Keaton for me was great at being dark and disturbed, and for that reason I really like Pattison here.

Isn't that the same with all super hero movies now though? They are all not very original anymore.

Who would have thought though, that the two most popular super heroes of all time have the most movies and always give something pretty similar. Yet they are always fan favourites and the most popular. I am referring to Bats and Spidey btw.

Still have the same reservations but hoping to be proven wrong. I love the suit and him in the suit, I buy the whole early in his career batman thing but I can't get over him as Bruce Wayne, put him in a Kurt Cobain tshirt and he's just a teenager in college who is in the middle of growing his hair out and telling his mum that nobody understands him.

Think it looks pretty good. New Batman and new villains should make it interesting.

Also, Zoe Kravitz

I think people will always give these two a chance just because they are not over powered heroes who really should destroy everybody

Also both have the best gallery of villains IMO

I think it looks interesting and I’m looking forward to it, but Nolan’s/Bale’s Batman was phenomenal and I dont expect this to get anywhere near.

Looks like the story line could be similar to the Batman: The Telltale Series game where Bruce's father was involved with the Falcone crime syndicate. But really like this angry, out for vengeance batman.

I expect this to be better in many ways, Nolan's Batman had bad fight scenes with terrible shaky camera work and bad editing, Bale's Batman voice was always a meme, Hathaway's Catwoman was pretty bad. I know I had more gripes with it. All in all, while being amazing, Nolan's Trilogy is far from this masterpiece some people try to make look like.

This will probably have much better fighting choreography than Nolan's trilogy, which isn't hard to do. Zoe already looks amazing as Catwoman compared. Batman voice sounds miles better than Bale one. This is also supposed to have a lot of Batman detective work which was totally missing from Nolan's trilogy. There is a lot of to improve on.

Much as I think Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy is alittle over praised I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt regarding many elements of his film.

Whether fans like it or not Batman does need to be a crowd pleaser of sorts. The character/s does need to attract the general audience and for that it sometimes, like it or not, has to incorporate certain cinematic elements into the film that may otherwise be alittle frowned upon by the die hard fans.

The detective elements of the Batman character have been well scrutinised by the fans in every onscreen adaption so for , yet I think Nolan produced the perfect balance with Batman with Alfred playing a key part of the investigating.

Overal I'm looking for to this. I like this 90's grimy visual style it seems to have. Reminds me of Fincher's Se7en to some extent.

Yeah, well, I know I enjoyed them a lot, especially Batman Begins and TDK.

I don’t nesessarily think the trilogy is a masterpiece either as there was a significant drop in quality from the first two to the TDKR.

I agree about Hathaway but I don’t really count in that movie anyway.

Yes that is true. I do like both of their villain galleries, they are definitely the best.

Superman has a pretty good roster of villains as well but he seems to always get the same villains whenever in live action. It's always Zod and Lex Luthor while all the others don't get a chance, which is probably a big reason as to why Superman is viewed as boring.

I guarantee that by the end of this movie he will be the suave and sophisticated playboy Bruce Wayne that we all know. He will create that public persona to divert attention away from being Batman.

I think Superman being OPed doesnt help, or hasn't given what we've seen in movies.
Getting the balance right is important, and hopefully it's not just Lois always in trouble to make him vulnerable
