Film The Batman

The car chase was easily the best action sequence yet I wasn't able to enjoy it that much because I knew how it was going to end. Marvel does a far better job at hiding things.

Yup. That was a problem. Also, the new mayor got shot by a sniper but seemed ok at the end  .

In the TDK that bullet would have killed that character but this new film felt very scared to go there. Like here’s some potential consequences but we’ll let you off with several warnings instead since you’re new at this

Tbf, most of those people never watched him in anything outside of Twilight

The guys a very good, if not great, actor.

He’s definitely a great actor. I recommend everyone check out the film “Good Time” as well.

He's been involved in some very good films and worked with the a living legend in Cronenberg. You're not a bad actor if you work with the people he's worked with post Twilight.

Sadly one of his movies I haven’t seen but has been on my list for far too long :(

That’s the one action/thriller/crime movie about him and his brother, iirc, yeah?

Yes sir! Same directors as uncut gems

It would have been a solid 9/10 if they ended the movie after the interrogation. The big action sequences at the end were unnecessary.

Very dull dialogue, a mystery crime story with very little mystery and the bollywood style action scenes. Overall, not getting the hype. Could have been a good movie but failed on all these key points.

Really good film and a great batman movie. I get the complaints about the third act but I think it fits the story and the development that Batman goes through. Also reminded me of Batman Begins a bit.

Bored to death watching this.

Too much suspension of disbelieve. Thin plot. Shit fight. Cardboard characters.

10/10 for this piece of crap?

Overrated piece of junk

1. Shit Cinematography, the only good piece was him riding the bike
2. The whole cops hates his guts, but somehow they allow a bat sign to be officially installed
3. See No. 2 but this time they wanna catch him, yet he waltz right into their den
4. So you're a 9/10 sexy chick, masquerading as mob bos illegitimate daughter and cat buglar, yet the stalker next door can see you dress up with a simple binocular
5. Alfred is useless, the most useless Alfred of all, wished he just died
6. Batsuit is terrible, a cheap Primeark boots
7. Batsuit is overrated, can't stand a punch from a weak thug yet can withstand SMG shots point black, oh and shot gun on top of it.
8. Pattinson is fat
9. Pattinson now brought his bat cape in a slim bag, guess he borrows the power of Doraemon
10. The whole gotham top brass is holed up in one big club and nobody even notices it, until Batman does
11. Atom powered Batmobile can't outrun an audi?

oh.. and it's year 2, bat signal, but somehow thugs don't know him

The list goes on...
Agreed. There's definitely more to this list.

Naa that wasnt adrenaline that was venom I think. Adrenaline isn't green.
There alot of easter eggs in that movie, the green "adrenaline", being one of those. Was that the same liquid Bane uses?

Liked it. Such a good movie, the acting was great, the cinematography was beautiful, story could certainly have been a little better, but overall, it's a good 7-7.5/10 Movie.

But I do agree with those that said that the last 20 minutes could be cut out. It felt tacked on and probably could have ended on more of an open ended note.

The last twenty would have been fine if done with a bit more care

It was all the fake outs one after another which was over done.
Oh look, he's gonna die, nope saved. Oh looks she's gonna die, nope saved. Oh shit he killed the guy punching the feck ou... Never mind he seems fine
Shit she's shot dead, nah... Oh shit electroc.... Never mind.
One with some suspense would have been ok

Also I've gone through the different Batman movie themes. There doesn't seem to be a bad one.
Even the cartoon one is awesome

Bet we'll get something like "xxxx cut" and they cash in half a round on it.

That one was silly. Venomed up Batman punching the absolute shit out a guy with his armoured fists. I thought his face was gonna be paste. Then they showed him and he's conscious with a little blood under the mask.

Am I right in assuming that
the adrenaline shot he takes at the end would be a precursor for Bane? He seemed almost raided out after taking it...

Robert Pattinson was fine as Batman but Paul Dano was the real star here. Also...
Catwoman wears granny panties? :wenger:

Or that he has already encountered him and developed the adrenaline shot from his encounter with him.

Good film 8/10... Better than the 1st and 3rd Nolan movies.
Oh oh....

I actually thought that might have been Bane's thing he injected Into himself and not adrenaline. It looked yellowish.

Give me 5 more movies in this universe, with this cinematography and make one of them the Scarecrow centric full blown horror film that should have been made a decade ago.
A movie focused on the gallery of villains would be excellent.

Seen it yesterday. Thought it was good. Dark Knight for me is still the GOAT and a few levels above this one.

I thought Robert Pattinson did really well.

Overall 8/10 for me.

To be fair, forget super hero movies, TDK is one of the greatest movies of all time across any genre.

Very true. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve watched that film. Just a pure masterpiece.

Heath Ledger’s performance in that film was something else.

I just don’t get this. It’s a quality film, but there’s barely any top fighting scenes, Bale is generally quite a wooden Batman and there’s too much cheesey crap. If Ledger wasn’t even 75% of as good a Joker as he ended up it’d be maybe 7/10.

This latest Batman film was okay,
just think it had way too many nonsense moments/mistakes. The sort that I’m not sure how they got through an edit like Batman chasing Catwoman, a master of her trade, on a fecking loud bike but her not realising to the point where she still tries to nick shit. The action scenes were intense though but yet again the trailers spoiled some of the best bits. And why are they using a new joker AGAIN? Why can’t they use Joaquin Phoenix?

The cinematography is amazing in TDK, Nolan hadn't gone insane and started war against people's ears, it's really well paced, yah dah yah dah.

The fight scenes are indeed bloody terrible but I felt they more than made up for it with the bike/truck chase sequence.

On another note; I was totally pissed off when I found out that they had choreographed an amazing fighting style for TDKR and then all we ended up getting was really poor continuity and people punching air.

Nolan was trying to copy Micheal Manns Heat where as every comic book film afterwards have been trying and failing to copy TDK. So just for that alone Nolan film is better.

Also by pure accident it’s the perfect Obama era film.

A little bit more on my love for this film:

I’m absolutely blown away by the direction they went with this, how everything to do with the Batman was making him the proverbial sledgehammer. To start with he was pure ‘vengeance’ with no style, or tactic other than ‘bull in china shop’

Then you have the imagery that shows Batman’s arc. At the start of the film his first appearance is alone, surrounded by darkness. Then at the end, in Gotham Square Arena, he is literally the light guiding people out of harms way. It just perfectly encapsulates the turn from obsessed vigilantes who everyone fears, to potential symbol for hope to actually improve the city.

Saw this last night, thought it was excellent.

Gonna write something more up later.

So thematically its like Nolan's but condensed into one ?

For those who really liked this version of batman, i would recommend watching the 3 parter on youtube from Comicbooks Explained channel. Its about a batman comic called "The imposter". One of the writers for this movie wrote the panels for the comic and the batman in the comic even resembles patterson.

We see batman through the lens of a psychotherapist and its a facinating gritty, realistic (for batman) take on his character.
