I'm smelling bullshit with this one. Unless this is his right peg:

Appropriate pic as he was known as the artillery man.

Very interesting match: '82 remake (and a good one for my money) versus a bold effort which may or may not be well suited to the opponent (I see opinions differ on this - as expected).

Recoba is a controversial choice, I suppose - but if one regards the setup in a certain light, I think he makes sense: He plays as some sort of deep lying inside forward (an old school role in a variation on an old school formation) - not as a central midfielder. And he fits that bill, more or less - positionally. Clearly possible to debate how efficient he'd actually be, though.

Onenil's setup is obviously far more clear cut - with several familiar players in their usual roles.

I like both teams, I have to say - and the match-up is, again, very interesting.

Two bold approaches here. I like Raees take on it - it's exactly what the draft theme is about and given the more attacking minded pool it will be a fun game. As other mentioned I'd probably have a more conventional 8 in Recoba's place - say Deco and more fluent on the flanks RCB/LCB defenders than Montero/Orlando.

onenil side is a great remake of that 1982 Brazil team, pretty much spot on, however I'm kinda not a big fan of it as a formation and given the saturated central area of both teams it's not the best fit for this game.

All in all I'm a bit on the fence on this.

The midfield battle looks insane, two squares with some amazing footballers. Out wide is interesting because on one hand the WM formation means the defensive end has no full backs, but because ONENILTOTHEARSENALs full backs need to bomb forward, Orsi and Jairzinho will get a lot of space vacated by those full backs. On the other side, those full backs getting forward would have oceans of space to play into.

So, I think the Brazilian midfield edges the midfield battle, Recoba is a big worry IMO, and thus get to gain the advantage out wide by having more possession and getting into better attacking positions more often, create more chances, and convert more.

Vary close high scoring game.

Sorry about not getting involved in this match. I've been busy juggling my own match with work, but I have a few minutes' worth of free time to have a look at this match.

@Downcast @Fergus' son @Mciahel Goodman @MounchesterUtd @Šjor Bepo

Thoughts?

Just trying to kick the thread into gear
Raees' team is incredibly complex. I like his ambition, but I just have a hard time picturing how it would all work. A lot of moving parts. On the other side we have a very simple formation -- the only thing that requires imagination is the interchange between Zico and Socrates, which isn't particularly demanding as you can watch matches where that very thing occurs. I need to visualize these teams in order to try and figure out how a match would go and who would win. I can't really picture Raees' side with any clarity, and so I lean toward ONTTA's team.

7-3 is a harsh result.

Let's go for @Raees who tried an original tactical system but I have to say I don't believe in Recoba in this configuration.

Recoba was the main downfall for me. In such a system, the inside forward have to be hardworking in order to provide some defensive support, and I don't really see Recoba offering that. If he was given more attacking freedom, then I may have voted for Raees in this match.

You had a more solid looking team. Love the formation graphic btw and will be interesting to see how you improve the side.

I'm glad you liked the graphic. You really caught me off guard with that formation, it was very cool and inspiring to see something that unpredictable. I might try something wilder next draft after seeing that!

Congrats @oneniltothearsenal . One of the best remakes of the 1982 side I've seen. It's very hard to replicate and also convince voters to vote for you in a narrow system like that.
