In my opinion, either a right midfielder in 4-3-3 or a free-roaming AM who will drop deeper at times, it's such a waste to use him as a purely defensive midfielder, really. He can work as a part of the 2 in 4-2-3-1 with a more defensive partner.

Not that you'll to think about his best position, as it seems ;)

Why not the first one? Isn't that technically the role he played in 1970? Or is it unworkable outside Total Football?

Where did you get that idea from? He wasn't at all a defensive midfielder in 74 (I assume that's what you mean by 1970).

That's a description more akin to what Arie Haan did stepping in front of the defence (think about a 3-4-3 diamond, Haan would be the deep one and Neeskens the top one).

Play him in the right side of MF along with DM.

Just bouncing a Andrade idea off Anto, as my knowledge on him is scratchy.

Theon can just buy all the good pllayers left and pick and choose depending on who he faces. There are some godly teams here.
