Summer transfer window slowly approaching and rumours of Benzema's leaving Real Madrid have started in earnest:

United 'in contact' over £35m striker signing - reports

According to El Confidencial, United are prepared to offer Real Madrid £35 million. Manchester United have reportedly made an approach to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

It has been widely speculated that the 23-year-old would leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after failing to claim a regular starting berth under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho.

According to El Confidencial, United are prepared to offer Real Madrid £35 million in order to secure the services of the Frenchman, while Click Manchester claims the Old Trafford club are already 'in contact' with the Spanish side.

This would appear to contradict the utterances of Benzema's agent, who said only yesterday that his client would remain in Madrid until January at least.

"Karim is not going to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal or anywhere else," Karim Djaziri stated. "To make it absolutely clear he is staying in Madrid."

He's pretty crap from what i have watched Madrid matches this season. Maybe he needs a new challenge, but i can't see us going for him unless Berbatov is going

Had a good second half of the season and Fergie has clearly been a fan for a long time, seems unlikely but not impossible.

Superb player another one that could lead the line would be a great signing imho.

He obviously never said that, but the way he behaves on the pitch, the way he talks to the press is annoying. He thinks he's seen and done it all, that's what I hate about the guy.

No way this would happen, with Berbatov, Rooney and Hernandez on the books, Owen with a possibility of renewal and Welbeck, Diouf and Macheda to return.

He looks pretty humble on the pitch to me, never moans a bad pass to him for instance, certainly nothing like Ronaldo. Or maybe he knows he's playing in a team of galaticos. Don't know what he's like off it though

I reckon owens off this summer and if we get a decent enough offer on berbs which we probably wont that would be two free spaces up front. Welbeck may get some more chances next season but we would still require a more established CF on the books for strength in depth

but why is he a right cnut/shit human being?

I think he's a right arrogant wanker from alot of times ive seen him talking. As was said above he seems to think he has been there done that and he's only what 23?

Either way you quiz me im still gonna think hes a cnut, not a proper cnut like Carragher now thats a new level altogether.

Got fat and depressed in his first season at Madrid.
Got fitter and more determined looking under Mourinho.

Off field, the question marks are about homesickness, laziness ("If we started training when he's ready, we'd be there all day," - Mourinho) and willingness to fight for a place and for his team. Since Christmas he's looked leaner, more determined, he works harder on the pitch and, according to Mourinho, off it as well. He sounds fine in the press and he's not whined that much about being a bench warmer.

If he is for sale, and we're interested, be grateful to Madrid for dealing with his growing pains.

Those calling him a cnut are probably just bitter that he turned us down for madrid, me personally if their is room for another striker next season then I want that striker to be Danny Welbeck.

He deserves his chance given the potential he has shown.

Boss in defending a Real player no matter what shocker.
