The «best in class»-club

We are, and have been for a long time a plaything for wealthy individuals who actually don’t have much money, to have a go at playing owner with.

I totally disagree. I think we need to put structures in place to make good decisions over five to ten years and let that compound. If we try a quick fix we will fail spectacularly. I'd bet my life savings on it. Now we have several people that have never done the director of football all job before bar Wilcox for a few months at Southampton.
Actually I think you do agree more with me than you think as you criticise the others for the same reasons I criticised Ashworth, and I think that's all justified.

There is no quick fix that will immediately bring United back to the top. But the right structures need to be created sooner than later and I really didn't get the feeling that anybody involved knew how to do that. It all just felt as if they kicked the can down the road during spring and summer and the result is the current shit.

One would hope that we have best in class scouts who are perfectly aligned with the coaching staff. We need to have a very high success rate in the next couple of transfer windows which will ideally allow us to get rid of the deadwood and bring in players who would elevate the team whilst being on reasonable wages. Sounds like a dream, but hopefully we are capable of that.

But ashworth has done it. And the others haven't. And we sacked the one who has done it.
