Surely this thread should be entitled 'Tevez refused to warm up'.
After getting over the initial hilarity that he was doing this to City, his actions really are sad for the game imo. Despicable.
Clearly it won't happen because he's a very talented player but I hope that no-one, either in Europe or South America goes for him.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has revealed he would not hesitate to sign Manchester City's wantaway striker Carlos Tevez.
Tevez has repeatedly insisted he is keen to leave Manchester citing family reasons, and appears frozen out of City boss Roberto Mancini's plans due to his conduct on the substitute's bench during last month's Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich.
With an investigation ongoing into his alleged misdemeanour, Tevez is unlikely to see any first-team action at City anytime soon, and Redknapp would not hesitate to bring the Argentinian to White Hart Lane on a loan deal.
"I would take him if he were available for sure, warts and all. Who wouldn't?" Redknapp told a number of national newspapers.
"If Manchester City want to let me have him on loan and massively subsidise it, I'll take him tomorrow.
"Say what you like, but he's a world-class player and you can't say he doesn't work his socks off when he plays.
"When he gets on the field he's a right handful.
"It's all right people refusing to condone his behaviour but, to be honest, I'm only interested in what he does when he plays.
"And world-class players are in short supply."
Surely this thread should be entitled 'Tevez refused to warm up'.
"If, theoretically, Tevez did win the case the pay-out could be huge. He could get general damages of up to £250,000. The really big amounts would be if he was awarded special damages though. He could say Mancini's comments damaged his reputation leading to reduced wages at future clubs – and we're talking about someone who reportedly earns around £250,000 a week – and the loss of sponsorship deals. Tevez could end up being awarded millions of pounds"
I think Adebayor is on a bit more than your wage cap.Exactly my point. Thankfully, our wage cap is set at around a third of what Tevez earns so Redknapp won't be allowed to go anywhere near that prick.
So, how did that confession from that interview after the match not prove Tevez refused to play?
Fine halved. 2 weeks wages now.
Taylor said: "If he had refused to play that would have been the charge and that would be gross misconduct.
"The charge was momentarily refusing to resume warming up. He never refused to play. He was desperate to play.
"They are trying to portray he refused to play, which is serious and why he was vilified.
"No evidence that they presented suggested that.
Carlos Tevez has been told by Roberto Mancini: "Apologise or you will be sold in January."
Mancini is prepared to go back on his declaration that Tevez is finished at Manchester City because of his alleged refusal to play and says he will have a future at the Etihad if he says sorry to him and his team-mates.
Mancini claims that is the only way back in from the cold for the former skipper, who has been in the wilderness for the last five weeks since the incident against Bayern Munich.
If Tevez, who has been banned and fined two weeks by City, does not apologise, then Mancini says he will be sold to the highest bidder when the transfer window opens in January.
"Everything depends on Carlos," said the City manager. "If he apologies to the squad and to me then everything will be as before.
"If he doesn't then Tevez has a value that everyone knows and something will happen in January. He is totally unprepared and being badly advised. I don't want it to be like this and I would be the first to forgive him."
Mancini also dismissed as "fantasy football" reports that Tevez would join Champions League rivals Napoli in exchange for fellow Argentinian Ezequiel Lavazzi.
The Italian said: "No-one from City will be given away."
Mancini claims the City players have come round to the diet and training regime he introduced after a few grumbles initially.
He has introduced olive oil and pasta to the menu and even gives them the odd day off now and again.
"Slowly, slowly we have introduced a new mentality at City and we have also looked at the diet, rules and training," he said.
"If you don't work hard you don't win. Now the players have one day off a week - every now and then.
"With the FA Cup win everything clicked into place, attitudes changed and it was a real leap in quality. The small things make a big difference."
Mancini also praised Mario Balotelli, who is free to return tomorrow against Villarreal in City's must-win Champions League clash after completing his three-match ban for his red card against Dymano Kiev.
"I have known him since he was a lad," he said. "I launched his career at Inter and I wanted him here with me at City. He senses my trust. He is always very polite - let's not forget he is 21 years old and it's not easy to be an icon. He is a little particular but that is his strength.
"Technically he does not have to envy anyone but he does need to improve his attitude. One day he will return to Italy but not for a few years - playing at City will do him good. In the summer we had lots of interest from him from Italian clubs but we are not giving anyone away."
A figure of £1.2m is discussed, according to the notes.
Gordon Taylor wanted "7 figures not to open his mouth". The Football Professionals Association boss also wanted to "be vindicated or rich", the note says, confirming evidence submitted in September to the select committee.
errr Steve.. can you please change that to say Gordon Taylor. We dont want to be paying damages out to Graham Taylor, the ex England manager.. we do not like that
My comment on Mancini offering an olive branch got printed on 365. Yea me!
