No, it is, pretty much. The situations that bring out Steyn's best are unique to him, whereas Ambrose is far more reliable and doesn't need fire in his belly all the time, he's more of a machine who will deliver no matter what, whereas Steyn can be flat at times and can kill you off at others.

It really isn't. You can find such spells for lots of bowlers and not all of them very good. Bringing up a couple of spells along with some armchair body language analysis is really shoddy reasoning.

Deniis Lille
Curtly Ambrose
Mitchell Johnson

to name three. Probably loads more that would crop if I googled

Not sure what this mystic ability is that Steyn possesses but ambrose doesn't. As long as ambrose does what he does, doubt Akshay and Akash give a shit about it coming from his heart, kidney or ass.

What spells are we talking about here?

Google is your help.

Johnson is self explanatory with his ashes spells.

Lillee has a few I've read about. Something about a game against RoW I think.

You can also add Sreesanth to the list who's a bit shit but his best stuff has come up when goaded and when he has "fire in his belly"

I will vote soon btw, Akshay bowling first but skills having that ace middle order is making it a very close one for me. Also believe Akshay/Akash have an ideal middle order to combat spin which skills has only 1 option in while Akshay/akash have more of.

But those weren't in similar situations? Nagpur is not Perth or MCG.

Anywho - and without trying to educate anyone, I'm not qualified enough to even contemplate that - I consider Ambrose as the better bowler of the two, way more consistent and reliable as well as more skillful than Steyn but in this game given the circumstances (conditions, batting line ups, support) I believe Steyn to make a bigger impact, and mainly one dangerous spell where he usually comes back with the old ball, I'm not a huge fan of AAs no. 6 and 7 and if Steyn can upset that middle order even with a single wicket and bring that lower order into the game earlier than what they'd wish for, it would be a significant event in the game.
I've voted anyway, so apologies for interrupting the ongoing discussion with my random gibberish. Good luck.

Vidarbha in Nagpur is the only pitch in India which has surface for fast bowlers but. So it probably is closer to Perth and MCG than it is to other Indian pitches.

It's VCA ffs not Vidarbha. Vidarbha is the region's name. So Nagpur is in Vidarbha :D

..and no, it is not a pitch closer to MCG or Perth at all. It helped pacers few times but that was down to grass which was left on pitch. I have seen many matches at VCA and most have been run fests. One India vs Zimbabwe got so boring, me and my friends were roaming around stadium during 4th innings. Andy Flower was amazing that game.

Edit: Also note that the new VCA is different stadium to old VCA. New one has been more result oriented but not a Perth or MCG like wicket. Anyway, back to point as it is more about Steyn than VCA :D

Congrats @Skills :). One of the Fav's now without doubt. Improve your bowling for the next round :p

The match ended . I foolishly thought the deadlines were the same. feck sakes. Wouldn't have made a difference anyways but still.

Its Mohali, which got better bounce and pace.
