Actually a more than useful part-time, has over a 100 test wickets to his name.

I remember someone used them as their primary spinner in a previous cricket draft here. Certainly enough spin presence there.
Cheers Aldo.
With both team having the spin presence this would be an interesting contest to watch.

Tough call. Favouring prath at the moment due to the combination of Bhaji and Prasanna, although both are off-spinners. Would have liked a little more variety in his attack.

Toss a factor too.

If you want variety, look no further than Herath and Greig. One's orthodox and one's a southpaw. One's short and the other's a giant.

Prath is relying way top heavily on his spinners IMO, his seam attack really should see me through

None of the fast bowlers will have any luck in this bounceless and paceless pitch though. And Bhajji and pras are kings in India. Even Sarfraz will have better luck with reverse swing with the old ball like Srinath had here.

My opinion, both teams seem quite evenly matched. The fact it is Eden Gardens plays alot into the overall result, if prath can stay on the crease for at least a day and a half then it could be a draw. Kazi's pace bowlers will have to work really really hard on a flat deteriorating Bengali track, his batsman will put up an excellent total but it's all about 20 wickets.

I'll vote later tonight after everyone has critiqued the teams.

So you're saying that my seamers will take no wickets at all? That's just not how cricket works, even on this pitch. The truth is, my seamers are a lot more likely to take wickets than yours, especially with the new ball. They'll take some of the pressure off my spinners, a lot more than your seamers will do for your spinners. You're banking on both of your spinners having close to career best performances, and that just won't happen against a batting line-up like mine. My bowling attack is just a lot more diverse, well-rounded, balanced and complete than yours and it'd show in a test match.

The bowling attacks just don't look capable of picking 20 wickets.

I don't rate herath personally and greig was a support act. Kazi will be relying heavily on bond making early inroads.

Prath on the other hand has 2 very good spinners but a bang average pace attack bar Sarfraz by the looks of it but I don't know much about him.

If either of them can show me how they will pick 20 wickets, they'll have my vote.

Why don't you rate Herath?

Maybe Prath might press Jayasuriya and his orthodox spin into service in that last innings?

Pace bowlers will take wickets of course but it won't be quick and cheap wickets. The fact is the batsmen are not exactly going to be tormented by the fact that the pitch offers no bounce and pace which are the main weapons of most bowlers outside the subcontinent (not the only weapon of course but that's what makes them dangerous). Sarfraz however is capable of bowling reverse swing like Akram used to. Point is These aren't ideal conditions for genuine fast bowlers. Especially against the batsmen that are used to face pace in bowling conditions.

Typical home ground bully imo. Doesn't have a good record away from SL. Would also love to see how many of the home wickets he picked were of actual top order batsmen but not sure if something like that would be available.

Harbhajan has taken wickets for fun in Eden gardens. He has 46 wickets here. Both He and pras together are easily capable of taking 15 wickets in this game. Prasanna again is a very wily attacking bowler who has performed well against top batting sides in the 70s (England Wi aus). Herat for all his brilliance has been a SL based spinner. He debuted in 1999 or so (around the same time as Bhajji) but has played like 3 games in India. He has 290 wickets of which 200 are in SL. He doesn't seem to be trusted to do a job in India. Bowling in Eden gardens is not like bowling elsewhere as even Shane warne has struggled at Eden gardens even though he has more than 700 wickets in test cricket. In the game where Bhajji took 13 wickets warne took 3 wickets.

There's not much difference between Herath and Harbhajan in that regard. In fact a higher % of Herath's wickets have comes against the Top 7 than is the case with Harbhajan.

Very close to voting against kazi just for his writ up. Will probably make a reasoned decision though

Where can I check this?

Parth winning the toss seems to be crucial here,Hayden or Jayasurya, one of either might bat long or quick fire century is on card ,Eden usually batting paradise and team batting first in test can post an decent score.Andy Flower is an good player of spin gives parth stability in middle order.
Kazi got the best opening pair/proven pair in this draft(Greenidge/Haynes) and S.Waugh in middle order, but batting second in sub continent pitch means once the new ball is seen through it would be difficult for batsmen score or hold on to the wkts especially with bowler in the caliber of Prasanna with support from Harbajhan and Jayasurya. Coming into second innings for kazi especially S.Waugh need to play huge innings to save this test. For me its more like Draw or win for Parth, but i don't see kazi winning this anyway.

Still haven't decided which one to go in this one.. Leaning a little towards kazi..

I think Bond will clean up 2 of jayasurya, hayden and kohli early.. I think Kazi might even end up with a first innings lead though.. Only thing stopping me from voting for him right now is that prath won the toss and my dad who is a huge prasanna fan always told me that he would clean up everyone if the pitch assisted him in anyway.. 5th day in Eden Gardens having both him and harbhajan is a huge plus..

As i keep typing this , now i feel prath can win this.. :nervous: Damn, voting is so tough.. I even chickened out of voting in the redtiger ps18 match..

Went for Prath in the end. I don't like Kazi's bowling attack too much. Prath batting first and having bhajji, Prasanna and even jayasuriya bowling in the 4th innings could decide the match.
