Halep is in the zone, playing herself out of that net point ice cool.
No shame for the GOAT Serena, motherhood & age has definitely gotten to her.
Would love for her to win one more Grandslam but it's looking unlikely

She's in the final of Wimbledon, so it wouldn't be a stretch to see her do the same at the US Open and beyond.

Looking good. Although I’d die of happiness if it turned out to be wrong.Halep/Djokovic.
It means she will have her shots, it’s a matter of taking it.Finals mean nothing if you're a relentless winner like she is.

My opinion is if she doesn’t meet a good returner like Halep/Kerber/Osaka in such matches she’d have a pretty good chance.
She lost a lot of finals. Bit nervy usually. No chance for that today though. No chance for Williams whatsoever.Only the second GS? I really thought she had more.
Nerves. Since her last GS she’s always tightened up and made mistakes or lost her tempers in GS finals very early on.Serena looked knackered from about 5 games in.
Venus there, savouring her sister's loss with a photo.
“She literally played out of her mind,” says Williams. “It was a little bit deer in the headlights for me. Whenever a player plays like that you just have to take your hat off. I love coming out here, playing in front of you guys. It’s literally a joy.”
56 minutes.
Jesus fecking Christ. The equal pay debate will rise on. Take in consideration the first set in the second semi final lasted that long last night.
I’m sure Tomic is going to use that final as example as to why he shouldn’t be fined all his prize money.
I'm sure proponents of equal pay wouldn't mind the women playing 3 out of 5 to even things out.
I cannot imagine these women arent able to do a best of 5 either.I'm sure proponents of equal pay wouldn't mind the women playing 3 out of 5 to even things out.
Halep fantastic, stone cold final. High quality throughout, no hesitation.
Agree with @villain that the motherhood break and now age have taken a strong toll on Serena. She still has technique but her footwork has gone downhill and she is now very slow, her agility is shocking. And with her becoming over reliable on hitting winners she's making a lot of unforced errors.
However as other's have pointed out, the women's field is super volatile, just half a year ago Osaka seemed unbeatable and look where she's now. Reckon she still has one or two slams in here given that she has reached 3 finals in the last year.
Well they should if it’s a final. There’s no excuse for TV companies. Make them play 5 sets in finals and it would be far more interesting. Rarely do players keep that sort of level Halep showed in three sets in the men’s game. There’s always a drop.
If equal pay happens then women should have to play the same amount of sets (finals or otherwise) as men do. I think its possible but somehow I don't think it will happen.
You’d have to reduce court size for that to be feasible. If equal pay happens then women should have to play the same amount of sets (finals or otherwise) as men do. I think its possible but somehow I don't think it will happen.
Yeah her legs were such a weakness compared to Halep. Then halfway through the 2nd set you could see her strides getting longer and longer. She still has technique but her footwork has gone downhill and she is now very slow, her agility is shocking
