Tennis 2019

Haven't seen him serve this well....ever?
Incredible serving this set. Hope he can keep it up.

Gave a masterclass of serving during a Wimby semis playing Andy Murray if I remember correctly.

Federer is going to serve bot his way to the semis. Nothing Djokovic or anyone can do if he serves this well.

Fed missing those 2 break points is bad imho. Can't be wasting opportunities like that.

If he continues serving well.....

argh i missed most of the first set and now i missed the break in the second

Oh my God! Unbelievable! I need to learn to stop writing him off.

How does the old man do it? Just bloody brilliant!

Imperious serving from Fed. Was a great match for him considering his age. Djokovic made some uncharacteristic errors but was swinging in the first.

Djokovic hasn’t been right since Wimbledon.

That’s why I said it’s far too early to say he’s going to catch Fed easily. I’d say Nadal has a better chance.

He's had a very poor season in terms of performances since the AO. Even at Wimbledon he was several levels below his best in the final. It's a testament to how good he is that he's still won 2 Slams and a Masters or two.

Nadal playing pretty average stuff again today. Set down to Tsitsipas and needs to win.

5 times each for Murray, Nadal and Federer. Shows also how well Murray has done to get year end no.1 one year.

One more set for Zverev to knock Nadal out. Seems a bit weird considering that he's now end of year no. 1.

Is it?

He probably would have won his first match if he didn’t get that injury during Paris. 6 points is a bit tad unlucky to go out especially as three of them are on it in the group.

I don’t think he’d mind too much to be honest as Fed if he plays like he did against Djokovic should win as Nadals weakest is indoor surface.

Medvedev is sort of doing decent. Don’t think it’s over as if he can put Zverev under pressure he’d crumble like he usually does.

Federer looks so old, like he's 39.

Come on, wake up, show us that brilliant 38-year old!

Twice had 0-40, plus several other break points, and nothing came from them. Terrible match from Federer.

Break point #10 = finally success

Roger going home. Honestly, he really doesn't fancy converting break points today:lol:

Tsitsipas on absolute fire.

Think Roger should have used the slice more. Too many baseline exchanges.

Still semis is a good result for the old man.

I'm looking forward to the match later and hope Thiem wins. Would be a great final between him and Stefanos.

Roger had all those break points and nothing. Anyway, the old man can get some rest now.

Good tournament as a Rafa fan. Neither of Djokovic or Federer win it, Rafa plays really well given his injury a week prior and also the bonus of the YE#1. Wish he wasn't playing the Pique Cup next week though.

Not really surprising. If Fed had their return game he would be unstoppable and the same can be said if they had his serve.

Berdych has also retired. Sad to see a lot of players you watched in the golden era of tennis now retiring. In another era he probably would have won a slam. Also have to praise his consistency as he was in the top 10 for so many years. He made 17 slams where he reached the quarter finals or more, 13 of which he apparently lost to whoever was number 1 at the time and the other 2 losses were to the eventual winner.

People knock him but to his credit he was extremely consistent and played to his ranking which a lot of players don't do in the slams.

who is number 1?
Coria. The percentage differences aren't that huge (Nadal is 2nd on 44.96% and Federer is 90th on 41.20%). Federer is 7th in break points saved, Nadal makes the top 10 in that as well which is impressive.

Just noticed Kevin Anderson is ranked 91st in the world. Has he been injured ?
I believe so, think he's been hampered with injuries most of the year as I don't recall him playing but losing early in tournaments like Cilic has.
