Obviously will never make it here. Another youngster that was weirdly hyped by United fans.
So Gomes is too young to be judged yet but Chong is useless according to the caf

Then you are incredibly deluded as is the rest of your post. I don't need to spread a narrative as every other knowledgeable poster agrees that he doesn't deserve the awards or that the majority of fans watch academy games which you've for some reason plucked out of your ass.
The voting is spread all over the internet, about 1% of which would follow the academy at best. United has millions of fans who use the internet and are capable of voting in an online poll.

There's a reason he won the u23 POTY last season and the u18 POTY the season before.
An obvious reason - he looks very cool with his hair style. And all in all it’s a nice story: Dutch player from Curasao with a haircut that makes Fellaini envy - hence the votes.
Gomes and Greenwood play better football, but look just as normal young English guys, nothing flashy about their looks.
Yeah, strange. A winger with no first team experience to speak of will always need time. And he's looked good when he's come on in games, into a side that's already relatively functional. To write him off after one game in a makeshift side is just daft.
Just as daft as people making him as a viable rotation squad of Manchester United before he even play a game
I don't know, I could have used a more sensitive term, but I still think it's impossible to write him off yet and I don't think that implies thinking he's definitely going to make it. With regards to viable rotation options, I can agree with everyone who says the club's not being run properly and that's affected the overall quality of our squad quite obviously, whilst I also think from the players we have got now all 4 of those youngsters (Tuanzebe, Gomes, Greenwood and Chong) are worth giving chances to. And we've got the Europa League to play. There is no way I want our threadbare first XI playing Thursday-Sunday with loads of travelling in between.
I think he should be loan to a less physical league like the eredivise, where he can develop other skills. Right now he looks raw as feck, seems like a player that was hurt by his pace. Certain players that are physically superior to other youngsters tend to rely way too much on that physicality and never develop other skills, such as Lukaku, but in the senior level thats not gonna get them far. He still young so I have faith he can still make it here, but needs to be loan right away.
He turned the summer loan offers down. Probably because he thought he'd get enough games here....He badly needs game-time to mature a little and remove the nervousness from his game. He snatches at chances in possession, but he can fix that. A Loan in the top flight of a lesser league would do him the world of good. The Championship will be too physical for him I fear.
You geniuses wrote off zaha too haha
Point well made - couch potato fans haven't a clue after a few games in realityHaha yeah haha and Obertan and Bebe too haha.

The issue is clearly mental like it has been with plenty of similar players including zaha. Needs time and experience to get over that. I don't know what the best approach here, United is a poor place for a young player to come through but loans never seem to work well for a player like this, especially if he believes he is too good for the championship or similar.
This is the downside of the 'class of 92' and Cristiano Ronaldo, now we expect all United youngsters to be Giggs/Sholes/Beckham/Butt quality and young starlets from aboard to become Ronaldo, we won the lottery on those occasions and
probably will never happen to this club again.
Chong may become a great or a very good player in his early or mid 20's but clubs like United rarely have the patience to wait and not sure if waiting is good for the player or the team.
Ideally, we should be buying players who are better than what we have.
Well. Personally I give them time, and understand that at the end of the day they're just youth and not everyone's a Rooney or Ronaldo. Infact very seldom an 18 years old can make a solid progression to the first team in the top league. Some very very talented could have made the breakthrough at 18 and even then they'll need alot of factors to align.
By all means, I don't think they're shit and useless, but at the same time I also don't want to big them up like many unrealistic caftards that wants to sell half the squad and replace them with the likes of Garner, chong, gomez, tuanzebe, etc as if we're playing football manager.
It just doesn't work that way in the real life. The jump fron u18 and u23 is tremendous, it's still the same game of football, but when you're playing on the youth level we often forget that their opponent is also the youth from next door, most defender they faced aren't well built yet, they too finding their rythm and most of the times they're playing against a mishmash of other teams reserve.
In the Premier League though, almost every defender they faced is a veteran with international caps, even the bottom table teams could field a string of full international capped XI. Which is probably why the likes of Ravel/Januzaj/Wilson simply lose their magic upon playing in the first team. A second too slow, their opponent being that milisecond faster and stronger, it all adds up
AZ player Stengs is a better player than Chong.
Maybe a loan to the Eredivisie isnt such a bad idea.
He probably will due to the thin squad but right now it’s not looking good for him.He turned the summer loan offers down. Probably because he thought he'd get enough games here.
Is he tho?
Image if Chong had stayed at Ajax and broken into their side? How much better would he be now & how much would he be worth? 30m or 40m?
If we bought Stengs he'd be in the 2nd team at best.
How many loans have Stengs done? Are AZ better at developing players then us?AZ player Stengs is a better player than Chong.
