:D I was overdue a tactical pick. Bossis doesn't block too many that haven't been picked already, and he can play anywhere across the back four. I'll resume my muppet picks soon no doubt.

Say if the guy posts it in less than 30 minutes like it just happened, we record it has whatever that time was, say 5 minutes.
Else if the person who had received the pick takes over 30 minutes, we take it as 30 as the original drafter had done his job to PM the pick.

Interesting suggestion. I think though having a time essentially out of the hands of the drafter who sent the PM is the one thing against it. The main issue as it stands is that you could be on but Pmed me your pick but I pick really quickly with it when you could have posted under 30s. To avoid that I would PM harms, Engima or me saying you'll pick instead to avoid it. Everyone's maths though seems to be pretty good so far.

Didn't know the 30 min rule, just happened to be online when Skizzo's turn came.

It depends on whether me or harms are online of course, but sending in advance is encouraging and probably managers should be rewarded for doing so.

Well the fixed 30min pick time for PMed picks I think is a reasonable reward, it's not a bad pick time. Although looking at some of the pick times they're quite a bit shorter. I think let's keep it fixed and analyse the situation at the end of drafting and see if it needs altering for the next draft

Is it me or have I unintentionally created one of the most difficult drafts ever seen on the Caf? What I thought was an extensive list is rapidly diminishing

I like this better than the last draft which was way too easy and probably redundant for the regulars here I guess.
Of course, I do feel this draft deserved a black list of at least 1 player though.

Its Maradona right ? he is OP in this draft, the first manager got really lucky here.

We always have a change of pace draft. After some serious drafts, we play some fun/all time drafts to relax a bit.

I can see that but here's the reasoning -

The way I see it there are broadly four eras of football. Pre-war (2-3-5, WM etc), post-war until the mid 70s (424, 3232 relatively tactically naive), mid 70s to early 90s which heralded tight defenses, sweepers etc) then the mid 90s until now (relaxed offside rule, more protection for forwards, more attacking game).

I then looked at diffferent birth dates as it makes it much cleaner to draft rather than saying only performances in the 1950s etc. I started by wanting Di Stefano in with Pele's pool so initially started in '26 but it missed Djalma Santos amongst others. I then looked at say the Brazil 82 side and Platini's France's 84 side amongst others to decide where the age dates should be cut off. I had then a hard look at Laudrup, Romario and Sacchi's Milan plus Baggio and Batigol to determine where the next line fit. I then realised that a standard 21 year gap made sense and was uniform. I don't want to go past '87 as it is relatively difficult to rate players who have not completed most of their bulk career- if we were to do a draft with young players I'd prefer it to be a specific youth players draft. Players who are born in '87 will be at their youngest 29 so they've had a lot their career to fairly rate them (plus Messi had to make the birth date cut). The players born in '57 really belong in the mid 70s to early 90s period.

Yea, I did read this from you somewhere else too and completely agreed with it back then as well.
But Diego is Diego. In the last draft at least half the teams got their own version of Diego. I unfortunately only got Figo. In this draft though, there is only one Diego.
To make things worse, the manager who got Diego didn't even have the courtesy to let at least Stoichkov go.
