I just started playing The Lost and Damned disc and the amount of swearing is unreal. I played GTA IV and it was the same. Anyone else bothered by this? I don't mind the occasional cursing, it's GTA after all and sometimes it just underlines the dialogue, but man this is just too much, every second sentence it's feck this, fecking that, after an hour of playing my head is just full of this shit.

Some of my favorite movies are the most sweary ones.

I can't really remember any of the last GTA or its DLC's but I don't ever remember thinking they are swearing a bit too much, I was more annoyed about the grainy draw distance more than anything.

Should watch Sexy Beast or Goodfellas imo. Prolly drive you insane.

No, what I mean is i break into a car and a random civilian screams what the fuuuck, on the Liberty City radio they talk about fecking your sister or something like that, the general conversations are also something like where have you fecking been, fecking pussy, let's get the feck out of here... and so forth. Yea I know it's a game for adults, banging whores and murdering half of the city, I just thought the amount of swearing is too much.

You could have switched that off in display setting - noise effect - off ;)

You can't have too much swearing. I believe every child should be made to run through the list of current swearwords each night, as some kind of universal anthem.

Most games these days have lots of swearing. the 18's tag is something that helps to sell them, and I generally think GTA games use them far more to contribute to the overall plot and story than others.

Try playing Killzone 2, it just puts fecks in for the pure sake of it.

I think its great.

How were you more offended by the swearing rather than mowing down innocent civilians?

It's a fecking game where fecking swearing is a big fecking part of what that fecking world would fecking be like.

Go bang a prostitute, then kill her, then run over 50 civilians, then kill some feds, the die and reincarnate outside a hospital. That should make you fecking feel better.

;)

Play those fecking games with your fecking headphones on. No one else has to listen to that fecking swearing. You fecking hear me?

I didn't mind it in GTA IV. Felt a bit awkward constantly being told to ice some black gentlemen* in San Andreas though.

*not exact wording.

This thread has made me want the next GTA game to come out already

I think Donkey Kong should throw barrels full off shit and Mario and Sonic at the olympics should have an event where you take lots of steroids, tell the drugs testers to feck off and go on a roid rampage.

Just to piss of that fecking pussy Mihajlovic.

My cousin wants to be a game designer. What advice would you have for him? I know you and Weaste rant about game design all the time

Learn a real skill first, like programming/art/sound design or if not, get into level design and modding. It'll stand him in great stead and give him a way to really show what he's capable of.

Just having 'good ideas' is not enough, everyone and their dog thinks they can design games. The real skill is being able to design knowing all the constraints you face.
