Suso

Macheda got fined for calling someone a "stupid little gay". Fined £15k, which is higher than Suso's fine but I suppose that's understandable given the context.

So in terms of proportional fines it makes sense, certainly not the witch hunt that Liverpool fans are claiming. Not that the FA should be making these kinds of decisions, it should be down to the clubs.

Well, he's saying he's gay and thus has mental problems. Banter or not, if the FA want to crack down on homophobia then they had to do something about it.

While I understand it's banter between teammates I think it's unwise to insinuate that homosexuals have mental problems. Anyway, I don't think the FA should have to take action.

He's talking about them as too separate things. That he's gay and has mental problems. Not that they are related.

It's not the FA's business at all. They have no affiliation with Twitter. They don't pay the footballers wages. I can not see the justification of them being allowed to do this. Are footballers that go to jail fined by the FA?

Oh I agree it should be dealt with, but you would hope clubs would be the ones to deal with it first, and instantly. It shouldn't take an FA review.

Yes but as I see it it can clearly be read in a way that homosexuals might not be too happy with.

And as I said, I don't think the FA should take action in a case such as this, as it's clearly banter.
And I'm pretty sure clubs themselves fine their players if they happen to go to jail.

Don't see why the FA even have the right to fine him here. It's not like it's an on-field incident or that it's something which even relates to football. Never mind the fact that it's PC at its worst.

This is going way over the top.A nothing story with a nothing comment.

I think it's a ridiculous fine. It was a bit of banter between two players, big deal. I highly doubt there was outrage within the gay community because of that comment.

 Ghaliboy bugger off to the RAWK thread.

Who is he playing for Barney? Does he have a realistic chance of making it at 'Pool?

Almeria. He should definitely make it at Liverpool, but I can definitely see a scenario where he is sold to a Spanish club this summer. It'd be our loss though, as I think he's going to be a star.

Still think he'll be better than Fabregas, Barney?

I remember watching him take the piss out of our reserves on MUTV a while back. At the time, I was of the view that he was the best reserve I'd seen in the country at that time, although his step into the first-team wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be.

He is a very Rodgers-like player though, and has loads of potential.

Yeah, in his prime I think he will be, but I don't think it will be for us. I'd be very surprised if he played for us beyond next season (his contract expires after that).

You can't be serious? Fabregas was dominating the PL at Suso's age.
