I'm not the guys best mate or anything, but he certainly gets alot of things right from what people tell me. i.e. Veron signing, Fergie staying on 3 years - thats just 2 from last season.

</strong><hr></blockquote>

He also told us to be ready for a shock within Old Trafford last season and within 24 hours United had sold Stamm.

There were 'Stam has played his last match for United' in the papers even before we sold them. I chose not to believe them, as did many others.

Regarding Rio, did he actually mention his name or just said a player from Leeds? I don't think there was talk of Leeds's debts in March, it hardly seemed possibly they'd be selling anyone then.

I've found both these stories this morning.MANCHESTER UNITED are two weeks into secret negotiations for Brazilian World Cup legend Roberto Carlos.

Sir Alex Ferguson wants Leeds United's Rio Ferdinand AND Real Madrid's free kick king Carlos in his defence next season.

A secret United delegation has been to Spain to meet the main men in the deal. Former Spurs and Scotland striker Steve Archibald - a pal of Fergie's with major contacts at Real - is also working on the deal.

But United must first convince Real Madrid to lower their

staggering £40m asking price. United will go to £20m, and will also discuss a player-plus-cash deal.

Argentine World Cup flop Juan Sebastian Veron is the obvious United star to go. Real's general manager is Argentinian Jorge Valdano. He is a big Veron fan and could be interested in making the swap happen.

United are in a strong bargaining position as Real want to sell to clear their debts - despite winning the Champions League final at Hampden.

Carlos is keen on the move. He boasted of United being after him before, usually to get a pay rise - but this time there is a genuine chance of a move.

Significantly Carlos sought out United ace David Beckham at the end of Brazil's World Cup quarter final win over England to give him a hug. They could embrace again soon - but this time wearing the same colours.

United's French defender Mikael Silvestre is being made to wait for a new contract offer. He would obviously be under pressure in the circumstances.
-------------------------------------------------
Manchester United are close to landing Brazilian World Cup ace Ronaldinho.
The Paris Saint Germain attacker was linked with a £25 million move to Old Trafford last week.

Press reports today state United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is close to swooping for the exciting forward in a £20 million deal.

Fergie sees Ronaldinho, 22, as the perfect man to play behind striker Ruud van Nistelrooy and knows the Brazilian is keen to play in the Premiership.

So why are you all bothering argueing about all the speculation.Because at least 50% of it is bullshit.

I'm now looking for something linking us with Ronaldo now.

I dont just believe everything I read, but I dont ignore everything I hear either. Going all the way either way is just daft.

kevthered did mention Rio, back in March. I thought out of all defenders, Rio would not be the one. Cos we already passed up on him at WH, he plays for our rivals and he is expensive. I would not call it an obvious choice, it is now after the WC and Leeds debts etc etc, but not before.

He also mentions O'Leary getting sacked which was supposedly the move which shocked the footballing world.

I think at the time, he may have had good reason to be confident of getting Hofland. I think Fergie was definitely going for Hofland and the player was there for the taking, but then decided against it later on.

However he gets his info, his accuracy is very high, but everyone gets it wrong, or in some cases changes happen.

Ronaldinho isnt coming i just read at tribalfootball that he his fergies top target which means that he isnt coming.tribalfootball post the most bullshit on a rumour site.

Ronaldo, I hope - but it is more likely to be Ronaldinho, because he can play in that support striker role with Ruud, which seemingly is what Fergie would be looking for, as Disco is on his way and we need someone to play in that role. And after last season, it is obvious, that can't be done by Veron or Scholes.

I would imagine Veron will most likely be on his way, for financial reasons, i.e. balancing out the books etc...

Furthermore, can you imagine what RONALDO's value must be after today, £45-£50m???

Must just say well done Ronaldo, no one deserves it more than you! :) Would love to see you @ OT next season!

maybe ronaldo and ronaldinho for ruud and veron, any of the rumours do come true , but unlikely.
