Television Succession

Half way through the first season and enjoying it so far, definitely seems to get better with every episode.

Greg and Tom are hilarious.

70%: It was Logan's move that Kendall made the "killer move"
20%: It was the plan of both
10%: Logan is shocked that Kendall made this "killer press conference"

Don't think we need to use the spoilers. I don't agree with the theory of Logan somehow orchestrating Kendall's move. It does not even make sense. Why would this way be better than Logan just resigning on his own, accepting that buck stops with him? Kendall actually accused him of being actively involved in the cover up which much more serious than a simple resignation. I personally don't think Succession has even been this kind of show where it has hid some strategising from its viewers. In S1, all of Kendall's takeover plans were visibly exposed to the viewer. S2 finale had perhaps the first slight of hand with the supposed hidden interaction between Greg and Kendall where he got those documents from him.
Overall, for the whole arc of S2, it makes much more sense that Kendall finally came out of his zombie spell. Throughout the season he did not challenge any of his fathers' orders and even in the final episode he reluctantly sends his GF away just due to him. It resonates really well that he would only come out of the same to show Logan that he is worthy of stabbing him from the front. Logan's smile is recognition of the same, a sign of respect despite the move against him.

Just finished the last episode of season 1. Looking forward to season 2.
Not sure how I feel about the Chappaquiddick angle. Felt sorta cheap and unnecessary.

I’ve just finished season two, despite feeling like I’ve been binging it it’s taken a few weeks.

Any theories on what happened at the end? Im convinced Logan has planned the whole thing, he’d already come to the same conclusion they got out of the meeting before the meeting had even started - there was no scalp big enough, it had to be him.

I think Greg having ”the letters“ is a bit of a red hearing. It’s not those letters it’s some other evidence that Logan has supplied which is manageable.

Logan wants Kendal as CEO after his performance in congress and he wanted him to continue having that tough, cut throat image so had him do this. Logan will “retire” and be the shadow CEO.

Just finished season 2. Very good show, excellent season finale.

I had to pause when Greg explained that he hid the top secret documents at work because they're work related

I watched this video before I saw the show, and somehow it made me want to see it. Now 3 episodes in, and it's not bad. Kieran Culkin is great, first thing I've seen him in since Scott Pilgrim.

Its the modern version of the Lannister family. With the difference that all Logan Roy's children are spoiled morons who aren't good at anything.

That’s crap they haven’t shot anything for season 3. Hopefully it’s safe to do so soon but the US is certainly not helping itself.

Not at all surprised to see this with 18 nominations. By and far the best thing I've seen this past year and I hope it sweeps the awards.

It's also nice there's no Game of Thrones around to pick up some undeserved nominations over a superior show like Succession this time around. Also pretty amazing to see this get 18 Emmys despite HBO not really being arsed about promoting the show at all.

Filiming should have started in March.

But that goes for every tv show or movie......i guess no new seasons in the next 12 months.
On Reddit theyre saying October start and out for next March which is emmy season, apparently.

Haven't quite finished season 2 so not reading through the thread just yet, but wanted to say that this is class

Think it might be the best thing I've watched since MadMen (probably forgetting something)

I heard that this is one of the best shows on TV, so I watched it and finished Season 2 yesterday.

...This is one of, if not THE best shows on TV.

Also: feck you for getting my hopes up about a season 3 date announcement

It's fantastic.

I thought Season 3 had been announced when I saw this bumped :(

love the intro. In general I love that HBO is still doing intros. There was a period there where most big shows would have super short intros, but I have a lot of nostalgia tied up in TV intros.

The theme song absolutely slaps and the show itself is pretty perfect - a few more seasons at this level of quality and it might climb above Mad Men and approach Sopranos and The Wire in terms of brilliance.

Also since I have long thought 'I want to hear somebody rhyme to the theme tune beat' I thought it wise to post the Pusha T version of it - apologies if it's been posted before.

Don't even have to play that video, it just plays in my head.
