Strikers...

Any combination for next season has to include van Persie. There's absolutely no way van Gaal is going to drop him, regardless of form and shape.

Simple is sometimes better and in this case it is

Bin Falcao
Bring back chicharito
Buy laccazette
Bench rvp

Sorted

Bring back Hernandez? The mexican wants first team football, if Laccazette was bought the mexican wouldnt get a sniff of first team football. Even RVP would be in front of Hernandez, he's decent goal poacher but unfortunately he just doesnt suit LVGs style of play.

Binning Falcao is too soon to say right now, atm its look unlikely to sign over the summer. but his performance is partly blamed by LVG. Not playing him as a lone striker, lack of service from the wide areas etc. If LVG does switch the formation to Falcao's needs (doubt it) then Falcao would be a goal machine IMO.

and RVP, i can see him going in the summer. Not because he would want to and LVG would want to get rid of him, but it'll come down to financial decision because i can see a club receiving an offer for him and the club will be tempted to sell due to the fact each season he is decaying and his worth will keep going down.

It is very simple either we buy Falcao and make him
our main striker or we have to buy somebody new.

Wilson is not ready yet for atleast a year or two, Rooney is midfield under Van Gaal, Hernandez wont ever be a main striker at any top club and RVP is declining too much to be the main man.

I think Falcao can pull it off but only if he gets 100% support from the manager, he shouldnt be forced upon Van Gaal, Van Gaal needs to want to have him and he must play him as the main man which means if he is fit than he plays infront of anyone else . He has done it this season with RVP but 6 motn-hs later and he plays even poorer than under Moyes. In RVP's case it is a matter of age, real actual decline. In case of Falcao it is more a question of matchritme and a coach that isnt really giving you any chances.

If we'd go for somebody new it wouldnt be a bad idea to go for Lacazette.

We have a fair amount of midfielders anyway, and Rooney is excellent up front. I don't see the logic of us paying for another striker when we have a world class one playing in midfield.

----------Blind--------
---Herrera---Di Maria-
Depay--------------Bale
----------Rooney-------

Ok so maybe not Bale...but you get the idea.

^^^ I doubt LvG will ever play that midfield trio in the PL, it's too weak and not possession based enough for his liking, that's part of the reason he's playing Rooney in midfield and Di Maria up top, he doesn't think the latter can hack the PL's physicality as a midfielder.

Trying to fit three of Rooney, RvP, Falcao and Mata into the team is a bad idea, especially when (as has been repeatedly pointed out here) none of those four have particularly electric pace.

The brave move would be to get rid of two of Falcao, RvP and Mata while bringing in a younger striker with pace. Even then we'd still have a lot of competition for places but at least we'd have a more structured attack.

If it was up to me I'd probably get rid of both Falcao and Van Persie.

I feel we this conversation cannot be had without knowing what van Gaal's long term plans in terms of formation are. If we plan to move to one up top, I don't see why we need a striker. 1 out of Rooney, Wilson, Falcao/van Persie is definitely enough. We will then need to get a winger or two. If he plans to play with two up top, we definitely need a pacey forward to play alongside Rooney and Falcao/van Persie. Problem though is who is top quality pacey forward that is available.
