I think Fergie also know that and he never has 100% faith on Ruud+Ole partnership (He left Ole on the bench in Leverkusen's match -- the most important match of us in this season). </strong><hr></blockquote>
And how well that worked.
Can you just remind us how many games they played together and it didn't work?

I don't think so. Individually Ruud and Ole are both terrific finishers, but as a partnership they are far from perfect. I think Fergie also know that and he never has 100% faith on Ruud+Ole partnership (He left Ole on the bench in Leverkusen's match -- the most important match of us in this season). We will sign a new forward with some special ability to challenge the defence (either by speed, or by skill, creativity), and then the new comer will form an excellent partnership with Ruud in next season.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Ole and Ruud are the best strike duo in England, and SAF knows that. The only reason he sometimes plays Giggs with Ruud is because he likes to vary his selection and suprise the opposition. Ole and Ruud will be the first-choice pairing for a while yet.

The only reason he sometimes plays Giggs with Ruud is because he know Giggs can provide something which Ole can't. Fergie always like to partner an all-out striker with another creative forward (such as Cantona, Sheringham, Yorke). I'm sure this time he is also looking for this type of player. Of course, I don't mean the new comer will start automatically no matter how he perform in training or practice matches. If the new comer doesn't settle well then the Ruud+Ole partnership will still be our first choice forward in next season.

You're ignoring my question.
But facts are - with Ruud and Ole playing together we won more games than we lost. When we didn't play Ruud and Ole together we were less successful. And Giggs will never be a striker. He can run at defenders and frighten them to death - then fails to score nine times out of ten.
Ole is recognised as the best finisher in the league. So we just dump him back to the bench then?
Yes we need striker cover. But Ole was as good as Ruud last season. How many goals behind was he despite less games - and all Ole's goals were from open play.

I haven't answered your question because I have absolutely no intention to say that Ole is not good enough to start for us. What I've said so far is just that I don't think Ole and Ruud is the "best striker partnership in the world" as some people have said before. If they are so perfect Fergie won't consider signing PDC. Do you think Fergie want to get PDC just for asking him to sit on the bench and act as cover?
Actually I observed that some people are being puzzled by two self-conflicting thoughts. Firstly, they can accept the idea that we lack some variety or spark in the attack in this season therefore we should get a creative (e.g. PDC) or quick, skillful (e.g. Duff) forward. But they also insist that Ole and Ruud must be the first choice partnership in next season because of their loyality to the current squad. Is it strange? On one hand they agree that we need to add something new, on the other hand they refuse to change the current team. May be we need to start with 15 players to satisfy them.
I think as a fan the loyality to current squad is understandable, but I also think Fergie will do the most suitable thing for the team, and he never afriad to make difficult discision.

Very, very true. Whether or not people agree with it, that's Fergie's preferred way of playing and he's not going to change it now, even if that means putting Ole back on the bench (which it does, unfortunately).

i thought everyone was talking about a striker with speed.
Says Who? Ole and Ruud are fast enough. All we need is some one of similar soeed with the skills to blend midfield with attack, able to dribble the s**t out of defenders and score goals as well. It would keep attention fronm Ruud /Ole, give em more space to score and help us whip the scouse and Bayern.

It only took him 470 posts to make one that wasn't full of shit. A record I think.
