Who do we want up front with RVN?
I think Anelka would have been a good buy.
We need someone quick off the mark.

how much is Crespo?
he's really unsettled with the Lazio prez. same age as RVN, just as deadly.

Same age and not as deadly. RVN almost doubled Crespo's goal output last year.

Coincidence. I sneaked a peak at work.

IMO, last season, RG didn't look as fast as he has prior.
He is a player who uses his speed with the ball at his feet. I'd like a striker who has the Owenesque ability to blaze past a CB and run on to a through ball. The way Giggsy is played, he won't often get that opportunity coz he plays, in the main, out wide.
Anyway, I didn't see him v Germany but good to hear he was blazing fast still.

Step Forward Robert Earnshaw or Cardiff City
Giggsy Knows how good the guy is because they formed an Excellent parnership with big John Hartson

Crespo is too expensive. The stated aim is defence this season. Fergie is alsmost certain to bring in another striker. However, I feel the likelihood is that it will be Di Canio. The Ronaldo spec is exciting. If he can have a good world cup and Inter and Ronaldo wish to move on - a loan deal would be amazing. TBH that seems very unlikely. No, Fergie will bring in Di Canio then look at the situation next season.

If we're looking for someone 'quick off the mark' I can't think of anyone better than Craig Bellamy. He had a super season last year - the main reason Newcastle were challenging for so long. Electric pace, much better finishing, looks five times the player he did at Coventry - and he's young. Newcastle weren't half the team when he got injured. He created so much space that even an old cnut like Shearer could bag 20-odd goals in the league. He could be worth a try?

Didn't Alex slate him once? Can't see why Newcastle would sell him either.

What did he slate him about?
Anyway, he was the most improved player last season.
Why would Newcastle sell him... money?
I don't really want him anyway... it just seems everyone is getting desperate in the search for new names and he hadn't been mentioned yet. I'm sick of seeing the same names coming up again and again

different leagues, dude. the thing about Crespo: he is very consistent.

I don't think Crespo is the answer for us.

When you mentioned Bellamy, I immediately think about Robbie Keane. Both are very similar type of players and both have played for Coventry before (but Keane was much more successful there). Keane didn't get a regular starting place in Leeds and I think O'Leary is wasting his talent by puting him as RW when he played. I know that Fergie has commented him as reserve material in the past when Coventry got him from Wolves, but several years have passed and his opinion may be different now. So what do all you think about Robbie Keane -- A fast, skillful forward who may be able to get for a bargain?

Realistically, there are only a few players who could partner RVN.
Ole, Henry, Trezeguet, Cisse, Ronaldo...come to mind. There aren't many though.

Shevchenko?? Sheva and Ruud would be simply amazing...

Ruud and Ole will be next season's #1 strike partnership again, no doubt about that. Diego looks good, but I really see potential in Dean Ashton of Crewe - only 18, but there is definately promise there.

I don't think so. Individually Ruud and Ole are both terrific finishers, but as a partnership they are far from perfect. I think Fergie also know that and he never has 100% faith on Ruud+Ole partnership (He left Ole on the bench in Leverkusen's match -- the most important match of us in this season). We will sign a new forward with some special ability to challenge the defence (either by speed, or by skill, creativity), and then the new comer will form an excellent partnership with Ruud in next season.
