Television Stranger Things (Netflix Original) | CONTAINS SPOILERS

Absolutely convinced Steve, Eddie or Will die.
Feel Will will turn out to be a bad guy eventually.
Steve will die, but considering there is S5, I hope, he dies then, rather than now.

Same. Or the original died and this is a ... Something version of him

Agree, Steve or Will seem the obvious contenders. Steve would have a bigger effect but they may want him to be in the last season. I’m not sure anyone would care about Will so it’s an easy one.

If they kill Will we then get upset Winona again. He must stay alive to prevent this.

I think Jonathan could be the big contender as the writers haven't had a clue what to do with him since season 2.

I agree that some story lines felt a bit "oh we need these characters to somehow waste a bit of time" but all in all this is easily the best season since the first and may even be the best depending on the final two episodes.

Episodes 4 and 7 were just incredible. Story, actors, cinematography, music, everything...incredible work by everyone involved.

I really didn't think this show could hook me like this again after the underwhelming 2nd and 3rd season.

They just need to edit better. There's no way these episodes should be over one and a half hours.

There are far to many scenes taking a minute that could be done in ten seconds and you would lose nothing but they are just dragging things out.

It doesn't add tension when you do that but instead loses it.

I think Jonathan too, especially as there's a spark again between Steve and Nancy

Jonathan’s devolution from loner to stoner has been a bit shit, but then if I’d had to fight off a couple of other dimensional creatures I’d probably hit the crack pipe as well.

I think it'll be Steve, they won't kill any of the original 4 at least not this season.
I have a feeling Steve gets the chop saving Nancy.
Don't think we'll get Evil Will either but he may have to sacrifice himself to save them all.

If it was my vote, I'd kill, Jonathon, Lucas, Argyle, Erica, Suzie and Robin before the end of this season. They all feel super pointless right now.
I would add Will to that too but I think he's being saved for the ending and will have a big season 5 part.

Kinda wish they'd been ballsier and offed Max at the end of episode 4, or even left Hopper dead at the end of S3. It's a great show but characters need to start dying for it to have stakes IMO.

The Max one would have been a really ballsy one too, I like her character in general but was hoping she wouldn't make it out, it feels like there's too much plot armor for the core group right now.
Someone has to go and it can't be Murray or some side kick, think it has to be a biggy to end the season. Killing Hopper is S3 too would have felt like the right time. Don't really know what his arc is since, the Russia stuff was fun but nothing to do with the main plot.

They needed to prove that music theory correct. Had Max died, the theory, irrespective of the outcome, would have been quashed.

And I do think they'll use music quite often to get people out of Vecna's grasp in the coming episodes

getting rid of Max would be a real massive mistake. She’s been by far the best thing about this season, and also that scene was by far the best thing the show has done, full stop.

I wouldn’t be averse to other main group deaths, but Max has a lot to offer. Hopper yeah, I wouldn’t have brought him back but there’s clearly something in the final two episodes that he’s been brought back for (Vecna getting a hold of him and pushing Eleven to get a rush of adrenaline and beat him? Who knows. I do think this would be possible to have gotten to in some other way, but the obvious one would be Mike). Jonathan or Steve are definitely the most likely to be killed off you’d think.

I am intrigued by the idea others have mentioned of Will being in some way the big bad of the Upside Down, although I very much don’t see it being where it goes. I do suspect that the last season will be headed by someone/something we’ve seen before

The only thing the Russian plot has done is give old faceless man Jaqen H'ghar some much needed screen time.

feck GoT.
You're forgetting his cameo as the horse

So wasn't the initial guy saved not cos of the music but he was left to take the fall?

Will's potentially painting a giant spider.

1's dad?
No one believes him plus I doubt he figured out that music saved him

The music saved him but he was kept alive after that because he was a handy fall guy/Vecna was taken away in the short to medium term.

What’s taking him so long I could do that in about 20 seconds. The Upside Down really did steal the runt of the litter with him, huh.

Max is an interesting one cause she's grown into a super important character. It would have been brave to kill her off and prove the theory wrong but I guess its not that kinda show. Was a great scene as it was for sure.
Hopefully it all ties up nicely in the final four hours of the season.

Nah, it would've been one of the most shocking scenes in TV show history -- in a good way. I really enjoy the character, but the impact her death would approach GoT levels of disbelief and outrage at a main character death. It would raise the stakes immensely for the final episodes and the final season. The whole "all main kids must live" narrative is making the show just a little less tense. Hoping a major character meets his or her demise in vol 2.

that method worked so well for GOT in the end, huh

I actually agreed that a main kid should have died, just she’d have been the worst choice given she’s the one who can, you know, act. Also the shock could never have been as impactful as that scene was.

It would have been rough if they'd killed her off she's been brilliant since she came in - the scene as you say worked perfectly anyway. There is still time to bump a few of them off if that's what they wish.

It would have been a shock for the sake of being a shock.
For story purposes they went with the right method

I started watching it late yesterday and couldn't stop till 4:30 in the morning just to wakeafter 4 hours and imidiately watch it till the end. It's simply that great. On the level of thw first season and exactly what we needed after to be fair a bad third season.

yes when you start doing things just for shock value then it's over for you. On GOT I firmly believe that's what happened with the books. Martin wrote himself into a wall by killing of too many major characters for the shock value and has never been able to find a way out .

Killing Max when she is the best of the young cast would be the end of Stranger Things. Similarly if they kill Steve they will struggle to come back from it. Unless the actor wants to leave it makes absolutely no sense to get rid of arguably your most popular character especially when there are so many characters people would be glad to lose

Unless of course it was done / planned before the popularity for story purposes

Max is more popular than Eleven? According to what? For me running up that hill was the only good moment with her in the show so far.

this season I would say she is and in my opinion she's a far better actress too which is another reason to keep her around

You might say she is right now because of the plot and the one scene we've just had, which is set up by all the groundwork with Vecna and understanding how he kills people. Then theres the powerful music that a lot of people are hearing the first time and the action of the special effects and tension to try and survive to escape. And the Bush song going to number 1 shows how important that part is. Absolutely none of it is actually Max. Could have been any other character with the same situation and it would still have been a great tv moment. Its not like her 3 part horror series was amazingly receieved and just as popular as stranger things.

I’m sorry but this is just total nonsense and I’ve no idea why you’re trying to discredit the actor like this. That scene had been building with how she portrayed her fear for her own life both before and after the visions started, which was continued in the scene itself. You say that the tension makes it work but completely ignore that she plays a massive part in creating that tension, way more than the special effects do.

As for the last part what on Earth kind of point is that? Is De Niro shite because nobody cares less about The Comedian?
