Stevie Wonder

Overrated.

Wouldn't be as famous as he is were he not blind.

I'll poke your eyes out then you can give x factor a go if its that easy.

The reason he is so famous is because he's a genius, partly due to his blindness which possibly intensified his love for music at such a very early age (expert pianist aged 9).

I didn't say it was easy. Just that he is overrated and wouldn't be as famous as he is if he were not blind. It's just my opinion. He has a few good songs, but that is about it for me. Not really my type.

To be fair, you're entitled to your opinion but I think it's a staggering bit of ignorance.

If he isn't your type that's not really his fault is it? How can you say he's overrated if you clearly don't like soul and r&b (I'm assuming?) and he's one of the top artists in that genre?

I don't mind a bit of Soul and R&B, it isn't my favourite genre of music but I can certainly give it a listen from time to time. I just don't really like SW's music though, like I said he has a few very good songs, but the rest I find to be average.

Each to their own though.

OK

Well come on, how old are you about 14?

It's like saying people only listen to Steven Hawkins theories because he's a spacker.

No, I'm 17. Maybe saying he is more famous than he is purely because he is blind is naive. I just hazard a guess that were he not blind, he wouldn't recieve as much praise and recognition as he has done.

Don't forget he's black too, if only he'd been jewish he would have outsold the Beatles

Yes, because that is what I said.

Why? For not liking Stevie Wonder as much as you do and not thinking he is a genius? Yes, he is a very talented man, only a fool would say otherwise. But to me he isn't a genius.

If you want to throw petty insults though feel free.

No, for what it's worth he made some bad records aswell as a lot of good stuff. What he did in the 60's and 70's represents some of the finest music ever made but as you say that's opinion and we are all entitled to one.

What I have a problem with is your insinuation he only got the recognition he did because he is blind. It's a ludicrus and highly disrespectful thing to say.

I hope that was petty insult free enough for you.

Do yourself a favour and get hold of 'Talking Book', 'Songs in the Key of Life', 'Innervisions', 'Music of my Mind', (stay clear of his 80's stuff) and keep them for when you grow older. I was listening to metal when I was 17 so I know where you are coming from.

I didn't say that! I said he got a lot more recognition than he would have done where he not blind, which I think is fair comment. It's not a criticism of him, he can't help what disabilities he has.

I hope that was petty insult free enough for you.

It was. Thank you.

I'll give them all a download and a listen through next time I have some spare time. Thanks for the info.

Stevie Wonder is a genius of course, class act. His music was forced on to me from an early age.

Smurf is obviously the Devil himself for thinking otherwise, hehe.

Stevie is a legend, have to say however there are alot more soulful voices I enjoy such as marvin gaye, bobby "blue" bland(blues) and Otis Reading. Having said that he deserves he place among legend simply for writing a song as beautifull as "As".

Without a shadow of a doubt one of the greatest pop musical talents of the 20th Century.

Writer, composer, singer.

Whenever I hear (on the radio) or read about post-WW2 music, Wonder is always in the top three or five listed and rightly so!

Classics such as "Uptight (Everything's Alright)", "For Once in My Life", "Blowin' in the Wind", "My Cherie Amour", "Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday" and many, many others done before he even reached the tender age of 20, making him famous the world over - not just back in the 1960's but to this day and beyond.

ANY contemporary musical talent of today or the last decade wouldn't be good enough to lace his shoes.

Signed to Motown when he was 12.... The mans is a true musical genius. It has nothing to do with him being blind in much the same way as Ray Charles success wasn't linked to his blindness either.. Both men were/are digustingly talented songwriters..

Stevie Wonder is a legend. People saying he wouldn't have been successful if he wasn't blind is rubbish.
