Steven Gerrard | Al-Ettifaq Manager

The chairman should stand over Gerrard in the boardroom when he gives that final verdict, preferably stood on some kind of box to emphasise the size difference. Then, with one swoop of the arm, he should point towards the door and say, "Take your money now...and Al-Etti-FAQ-OFF!"

I'm sure he's got a big fat payoff to cheer him up. Losing to a team a division below you in the cup though, ouch.

Hard to know exactly what's going on there though, like 99% of the world I don't watch their league. Perhaps it's presumptuous but I'd have though it might be a bit chaotic over there at times. Looks like there's the 4 clubs splashing the cash big time on the foreign stars and Al-Ettifaq are not at that particular level. Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal the big boys, they're also the 4 backed by the Saudi royal family. They do have foreign players but they seem a step below those others and they're not really names that make you say wow.

Perhaps about 5th or 6h in wages from that spreadsheet, around the level of Al-Shabab so they might be expecting to finish around there and they were 6th last season. 10th so far a poor showing although only 2 points from 5th right now. Still, 10th is 10th and add it to the cup exit, plus poor recent form and you can see why him getting sacked might happen.

Regression? That assumes there was a time when he had a fecking clue.
Aye only time he looked decent was in the covid season where everyone was playing training matches with zero fans or intensity. He was on the verge of getting sacked before Covid shut down football. Had just lost 1-0 to Hamilton at Home and fans were calling for his head. Needed a global pandemic to set things up for him.

Honestly his pathway to managing Liverpool was probably better off if he hung around the reserves and assistant jobs long enough to slip into a cheeky interim run between real managers.

Anyone could be successful at Rangers.
That 2020/21 season was really good, to be fair. Unbeaten the whole year and only conceded 13 goals. Irrespective of league quality stats like that don't happen that often!

Hope he keeps his job, otherwise he'll be lining up alongside spitty doing commentary. Shudder at the thought...

Think he's been more focused on being a manager than being the Liverpool manager.
