Oh yeh forgot they signed this guy. Has he even played yet?

Displaced by the yet to play Wilfried Bony in City's Champions League squad. Surely the writing is on the wall for him?

Another highly rated Serie A starlet who failed to make the grade. Injuries were a pretty large part of it but he never looked good enough, really.

I always thought he did well when he played for City. I certainly rate him higher than Bony and am surprised at their decision with the CL squad, although in terms of availability, Jovetic seems quite injury prone.

He's not failed at all, he's played well when he's not been injured.

Doesn't surprise me that he's been dropped. Going against the grain of what's been said before but I've not been impressed at all by him at City. Looks extremely limited on occasions. Better suited to a mid to low table team than a team challenging for the league in my opinion.

Well, not entirely. Jovetic was often criticised at Fiorentina especially in his last season there. He is a good player but he was only ever highly rated when he was a teenager, he stagnated since then.

With that said he's pretty decent, his fitness is a major concern though.

It's because you can't rely on him being fit for more then 2 weeks. His injury problems are Hargreaves-esque.
I still don't think he's good enough. I've seen a few City fans on other forums mention it too, and he's being replaced by a better player in Bony. Simple enough, really.

His best time in a City shirt was in pre-season & early season against us when it looked like he had revived his form from fiorentina, but then he just faded instantly again and his injuries are a huge problem. Most likely be gone in the summer to Juve or Inter.

Absolute idiot signing for City, I don't know why players don't learn their lesson watching other players sign for clubs and never playing

Yeah, what an idiot for signing for a better team playing Champions League football offering him higher wages.

He didn't fade instantly, he got injured again. I'm surprised at the comments on here saying he played well for City though. He's done OK but he really hasn't impressed me to any great extent in his time here. Shown glimpses of his potential but not enough to suggest he's going to develop into a big player for us.

is it worth it for these players to just throw their career away when they're not getting the game time? I guess most of them are pretty deluded. Some would say 'hey jack rodwell is back playing for a premiership team' but what a player he might have been if brought up right

Yet if he was at United he'd be third top goal scorer as he's scored 5 goals in the PL despite playing what... 700 odd minutes? Hasn't really had much of a chance at City, injuries and not being selected is/was his issue. Should never have joined your lot in the first place tbh. He was always going to struggle to break into the team.

I know he got injured, what I meant was he's not had the same impact since early season when a lot of people thought he would be a big player for City this season.

Started the first 3 games, then picked up a hamstring injury (again) which ruled him out for the next 3 games. He then got another hamstring injury again in December. It's probably best for City to get rid of him if he struggles with injuries constantly tbf.

Is it worth it for these players to waste their careers at average teams and have no ambition to sign for a top team? It's nonsense. If these players like Rodwell or Jovetic have any faith in their ability of course they should sign for a side like City. Rodwell actually started pretty much every time he was fit under Mancini, it was Pellegrini who had no faith in him, and Sunderland fans have been frustrated by Rodwell this season so it's clear he just doesn't really have the talent for whatever reason.

If Jovetic leaves City in the summer he'll leave having played, and won, the Premier League as well as the Champions League. Not to mention an obviously better bank balance.

Wasn't a good move to get rid of Negredo and get this guy.

What? They both signed in the same transfer window.

Honestly think there's some risk involved when bringing player's over from Serie A nowadays, it's a second rate league...

They signed them at the same time. I agree it wasn't a good move to let Negredo go though. Signing a striker from overseas and only giving him one season is just silly, but they seem to like doing it.

You guys forgetting the fact Negredo wanted to leave. And was begging City to let him leave because his family didn't settle in England.

Very surprising, City just cant seem to decide whether they want to play Aguero alone or with a partner, and can only buy certain quality to sit on the bench while they make that decision, I personally thought the Aguero/Tevez parnership was best with Dzeko as backup, why they keep changing it every year i dont know

I rate him highly but he's been mostly rubbish for City so replacing him with Bony seems a fair move.

The Aguero/Tevez duo was poor to be honest. Apart from a couple of games like the 6-1 away to Norwich they never really clicked and whenever they started together most of the time one of them was subbed off before we scored. The best partnership was Aguero/Negredo for their first few months together. Absolutely unreal for a short period of time, shame how it ended though.

I liked Aguero and Tevez's partnership, he is ideal to play with a striker who drops deep and interchanges, kind of like Rooney, Negredo was also a decent option too, I dont think either fancied living in England much though.

If Jovetic could of stayed fit i think they could have been good given a decent spell of playing time together, I reckon you could get the Bony money back from him though if you really do need to sell to buy, next for you has to be replacing Navas IMO, he really has disappointed this season, is Nasri injured or does Pellers just fancy an out and out wideman on the right? Sanchez would have been perfect for you

I liked the look of him in his Fiorentina days, but he's been mostly meh at City. Not surprising really.

Yeah they should. That's why it surprised me they decided to sign for City instead! bite

Its not as much of a bad move as you portray it.

Clubs like Fiorentina can't offer the salaries City can and would rather burn in hell then sell a player to Juventus or Inter. Whenever that happened (ex Robbie Baggio) the player was pretty much hated there for the rest of his career. So Jovetic goes to City and he gets the salary he wants. If he fails to make an impact, City will want to get rid of him, which would lower his price and would therefore attract the big Italian clubs (Juventus are interested). Under such circumstances (low fee etc), Jovetic would have plenty of leverage to retain much of his salary and perks.

Serie A is bad.

The Serie A is the pauper of the top leagues. There are richer clubs even in France these days. To make matters worse the clubs infrastructure is pretty poor. Most of the top clubs have no stadium of their own, they lack a solid merchandizing system, most of the staff employed are the owners pets and they still rely mostly on the owner's money, the latter being hit terribly by recession.

Some decisions being made are good. For example Juventus had invested money on a stadium of their own and by the looks of it AC Milan will soon follow them. New Inter's owner Thorir had brought some interesting staff at the club including former United Michael Bolingbroke who is meant to export United's financial model to Inter.

Nevertheless some poor decisions were made throughout the years. For example signing EPL washed up players (Torres, Van Ginkel, Essien, Vidic and Evra) and insisting in employing ex players as coaches to keep costs down. AC Milan management in particular is a parody between Silvio Berlusconi who still utilize AC Milan for his political purposes and expect them to win without him spending a penny, Old guard Galliani who had shown that he's only good when he's got unlimited funds to burn and Barbara Berlusconi, whose a chip of the old block and wants to bring 'change' while shagging players and staff as a hobby (ex Pato's GF and there's rumors that she tackled Inzaghi too)

It's a case of other teams catching up quickly rather than the Italian league going massively backwards? It seems like they've been coasting about by the sounds of it.

Odd statement considering Jovetic's arguably best perfomances for Fiorentina were against Liverpool and Bayern in the CL.

Buying Serie A rejects such as Coutinho and Pellè seems to work better.
