Statue for Giggs and Rooney outside Old Trafford?

That would be so stupid of the club. What is etc?

Rooney absolutely deserves one.

Arguments with Sir Alex. The way he handed his transfer requests in. The flirting with City.

If we're working on the basis that Rooney deserves one for his goals and that alone.. Then what do you do if/when his record is broken?

I loved Rooney, but I don't think he's deserving of a statue at all.

Arguments with Sir Alex? So what? I don't remember they ever had any serious conflict and conflict happen all the time. The way he handed his transfer request? As far as I remember he never actually handed a transfer request he only questioned the ambition of the club, after we only bought Bebe. Flirting with City? Give me a break, the likes of Gerard and other club legends all over the world have done much more serious crimes.

Rooney was far more than his goals, he was the most important player in maybe our most successful period. If Rooney does not deserve a statue no other player bar Sir Bobby deserves one.

Give Giggsy a statue til the end of the season

Then replace it with an experienced statue

There would be too many players to consider, so I would leave it as it is now

Cantona should be the next, or if solskjaer wins a league then his knee slide immortalised

No thanks, both don't deserve imo.

However I'd like a Cantona or at least a Scholes.

The blasphemy! Nobody is perfect, but Giggs was seeing that woman before his brother had even met her. Granted,he shouldn't have carried on the affair behind his brothers back but everybody makes mistakes and love makes us do silly things.

How can a real Manchester United fan say Giggs is lower than dirt after everything he did for this club.
Because I don't let kicking a ball blind myself to someone being a complete and utter cnut of a person.

A statue for Eric Harrison to represent the class of 92 as well as the influences of all other coaches who have contributed to the success of United over the years.

Probably a silly idea but a 92 would be a better symbol? I think that long terms, symbols are a better idea than people when it comes to statues because it's rarely about one person with the exception of the two great managers who have a lengthy and extremely important influence on the club.

2 separate groups of statues:
- 1 for the class of '92
- 1 for Ronaldo and Rooney

No way Ronaldo will get on. As great as he was in that period of 07-10, he then left us to spend his prime at Madrid.

He's probably the most gifted player i've seen at united in my lifetime, but players like Cantona / Class of 92 speak more to the legend / story of our club.

Lets save space for when Ole wins the CL as a manager and becomes the first ever to do so and as a player for Manchester United

Just avoid statues in general because at some point, every player who obtains any kind of legendary status at a club will have to be put into debate to receive one.

You'll have to walk through a football rendition of the Terracotta army to get to the stadium in the coming century.

Most statues are of horrible human beings.

True. If you're famous enough to get a statue, you're statistically very likely to be a - erm - monumental cnut.

All famous people are either known cnuts or cnuts who just haven't been exposed yet - it's a well known fact.

feels weird having a statue for people who are still quite young

Cantona would be my pick for the next one

If we're talking statues then it goes:

Robbo in about 10 years

Cantona in 20 years

Joint Giggs, scholes, neville in 30 years. Keane deserves it but not going to happen.

After that I'll be dead and don't care. But needless to say Rooney will never have a statue out side old trafford because of his shithousery.

All the recent talk about City building a statue of David Silva outside the etihad(and Paul ince‘s stupid remarks about Henry and Bergkamp!),got me thinking about which players of the SAF era deserve a statue to be erected outside Oldtrafford.I greatly admire and respect Cantona and Ronaldo, but they didn’t play long enough for the club to deserve a statue outside OT.If you take those 2 out of the debate, then frankly, there are only 3 players who probably deserve to be given this special honour-Giggs,Scholes and Rooney.

Personally I would be in favour of the club building a statue of Giggsey and Rooney outside OT.As much as I love Scholsey,he doesn’t really have any unprecedented/record breaking acheivements in terms of trophies or goals.Giggsey is the most decorated player to have ever played for the club and Rooney is our record goal scorer....Personally I would want statues of these two to be erected outside OT.Do you guys agree?
Statue for someone who handed in a transfer request ? Give it to Giggsy

Luke Chadwick stood on the corpse of Steven Gerrard?

That ain't bad.

If you want a traditional take on it, you could do a variation on the St. George theme: Chadwick as St. George, sword at the ready, etc. Starfish as a big, fat dragon, frozen forever in a slipping posture.

Our next statue surely has to be of a dabbing Lingard!

Cantona, CO92, 99 treble winners.

Arguments with Sir Alex? So what? I don't remember they ever had any serious conflict and conflict happen all the time.

Sir Alex was actively trying to sell him before he retired. Had he stayed on, Rooney would've gone

The way he handed his transfer request? As far as I remember he never actually handed a transfer request he only questioned the ambition of the club, after we only bought Bebe.

He said we couldn't match his ambitions. Basically saying he was bigger than the club... That was the first time he handed in a transfer request anyway. Yeah.. he did it twice.

Flirting with City? Give me a break, the likes of Gerard and other club legends all over the world have done much more serious crimes.

I can't ever remember Gerrard saying he wanted to go to Everton, or United.

Rooney was far more than his goals, he was the most important player in maybe our most successful period. If Rooney does not deserve a statue no other player bar Sir Bobby deserves one.

Ronaldo was our most important player from 07-09.
Rooney was awful in our 10-11 title winning season
RVP our most important in the last title win.

I'd actually say that he wasn't the most important player in any year that we've won the title.

Don't get me wrong. I think Rooney was fantastic for us. But I don't think he deserves a statue. I don't think many people do and I don't think we need any more.

You think he does deserve one though. I'm happy to disagree.

I think they should start handing statues instead of league medals. Saving some isn’t it.

Would you recginze them in silhouette? Cause you should only build statues of people you can regognize in silhouette. This is well known fact.

One of these should do:

Thing is, where would we put them? We've got so many legends who could potentially have statues that the outside of Old Trafford will start looking like the Terracotta Army.

Cantona, Giggs and potentially the class of 92. I think that's about it. Whilst Rooney is our all time record goal scorer, he will never be revered by Utd fans. Left a very bitter taste with his transfer requests
