State of the refs in this country

Thank the Lord. From an England perspective, it's actually a shame as their incompetence can't shine through and negatively affect other teams.

At first I thought this was just due to political tensions, but its FIFA who decides this and Russia has no say right? right?!

What's the criterion for comparing referees? It would be interesting to see stats on referring errors (as the authorities see it) if they do exist.

The funny thing about this is that technically there are two french referees(Tahiti), the US have two referees and Cuneyt Cakir will be there.

Looks like English press should start promoting Micheal Oliver as the next high profile ref from the nation after Clattenburg.

Ridiculous. As much as we like to shit on our refs, they are still amongst the best in the world.

To be fair, there is a limited amount of referee per confederation, so you have to replace one of the UEFA's referees, I'm not sure about who is actually not deserving in that list, even our turkish nemesis isn't a bad referee.

Given what we've seen the past few years, it's not really a great surprise, is it ??

Hopefully it will now finally get through to Riley just how poor his referees really are while he's been so busy defending them.

As much as we like to criticize our referees in France, the worst refereed PSG game this season was probably Bayern PSG by Cakir.

I did try to have a dig at Turpin but honestly I can't, even though didn't he failed badly in a OM-PSG?

I think he's decent but I'm surprised by his presence in the 10 UEFA referees as the other 9 are more experienced at the top level.

PSG fans don't like him and oppo fans often think he favours PSG but I don't hold a grudge against him for his occasional decisions against us.

Whoever that feckturd was today I hope he never sets foot in OT again

Still a lot of time before World Cup, what's the big deal announcing the refs even just a week before for instance?

I think it’s to do with the specific training they undergo prior to the tournament.

I’m struggling to remember a worse decision than that.

He was literally 3 yards away with an unobstructed view as Noble rabidly attacked Pogba’s face.

I’m completely at a loss what Moss’ thought process is for that.

Very poor performance by Moss. He can't even say he didn't see, it happened right infront of him.

Pogba got manhandled the entire match and barely got a call. The Noble incident was just the cherry on top.

He has been all season. It appears as though, because he's tall, it's perfectly fine to charge into him.

That's what got me. All of the usual excuses for why a ref didn't give it don't apply, he was close to the action, had a clear view and it wasn't a blink and you miss it either. Only explanation is that he had undergone an amateur lobotomy before the match.

You just knew this shite of a performance was going to happen when in the 9th minute Joao Mario pulled down Lingard who was running at the goal. A clear yellow card offense since he's stopping the attack with no regard of getting the ball but Moss let him go. Shortly after McTominay gets hit by a tackle that goes over the ball and right into the shi. Nothing.

That was the standard he set at the beginning and he allowed the following to happen. Defenders constanstly using hands to wrestle attackers that slowly built up the annoyance of players. Lots of little pushes from behind and nothing.

This could have been a game but defenders were allowed to use everything they could to stop players and it just frustrated attackers.

The ref was doing his best to avoid the big decisions all night. But that was beyond ridiculous.

Racism is rife among the refs in the league. You might call it 'the English lads are mates with the ref', but they're allowed to be matey with the refs because they're English, and they're given preferential treatment. Carragher and Gerrard have admitted as much.

If Pogba had attacked Noble like that he would've been off. Fellaini wouldn't have been let off without punishment for a forearm smash to the head that Carroll did.

He must have something against Pogba because it seemed he was deliberately making wrong calls whenever he was involved.

Role's reversed and Pogba gets a sending off if he did that to Noble.

He was consistently shit throughout the match but took the piss when it came to Pogba.

You realise that the English aren't a race, right?

Cant send Noble off. He's a geezer aint he? A British Bulldog. It's what the English game was built on. Take that out the game, and you're left with boring 0-0 draws on a Thursday night.
