It’s still been such a lazy argument put forward so far in terms of “we’d win because slow defenders”

It completely overlooks any nuance of the actual game. It disregards the ability of any of the defenders who have all been key players in successful/dominating teams.

It disregards the game plan and set up, as well as highlighting how players would work in different roles and units.

There was no tactics or style put forward by the opposition. Perhaps left ambiguously vague as to not put people off and can fall back into the “ask me questions and I’ll answer” trope. The only follow up that was added on tactics, was more of the “we’re too fast” narrative.

I've never made the argument that simple, it's factual that both of your centre backs lack pace, given one of the main strengths of our attackers is their pace it's an obvious and ligetimate tactic. Sorry that offends you.

Skizzo looks very good in attack and defence. Only the midfield is a bit underwhelming to me, which is a shame, because the midfield 4 is supposed to be the heart of soul of the 442. I do rate Pirri, but he is a Star Midfielder and there are some better ones I think. The opponent has Kopa on the other hand, who has a pretty good case to be called the best player on the pitch.
Agree on Kopa. Although among the star CMs, Pirri fits arguably the best to the English league 4-4-2 style. Looks grand there.

And for clarification the writeup was done by me on my lunch break. Himannv was supposed to do it but some real life stuff came up, so instead of delaying the game I did what I could.

Secondly personally I'm not a fan of essay writeups, most voters won't bother to read it all, short and concise is the way to imo.

As for being ambiguous, you could argue that, but the team setup is pretty self explanatory, there's nothing complex about the system. The formation is pretty common and players are playing in roles they are acustomed to.

I’m not offended, it’s just hard to discuss anything when I put forward thoughts earlier in hopes of a discussion of some sort, and in return it was just “here’s Kopa, our fast guys will love him against those slow guys” :) it is what it is.

@2mufc0 im gonna be heading in to work, so gonna miss the last little bit (postponed as long as I could  )

Based on the low voter turnout in most games already, I’d assume this was done. Congrats to you and @Himannv (hope all is well with him) and good luck!

cheers for the tag, followed the discussion but i cant separate the teams so i didnt vote

Skizzo won this one in Fergie Time

My vote has probably been decisive... A draw would have be a fair result like in most of games.

Frankly, I hate to vote these days, which explains why this is my only vote in this draft so far

Just thought Pirès-Cantona deserved another shot for once, certainly biased because I had built a team around these 2 players in the tactical draft

i have to say this might be my favorite 442 ever in drafts even compared to some of the ones with bigger names

Well Pires, Cole and Adams thank you for your comments :)

Not sure where to look for reinforcements specifically here because I don’t want to tweak the dynamics too much, although Cocu and Pirri didn’t seem to get too much love in the end.

Yeah I definitely rate Pires and Adams higher than most but its the combos all over the pitch I like. Donadoni was a great choice. Cantona-Shearer in front of Donadoni and Pires just has a greater than the sum of its parts effect for me and I'm not even a big Shearer fan. But I like him in that front four a lot more than with if Shearer had traditional wingers for example.

I also really like Cocu-Pirri. I feel they are both all arounders but Pirri the more defensive so the combo works great. But then Cocu might be one I rate higher than most. I kept mentioning him to Pillow and Indy actually

You make it sound like I had some master plan :nervous:

Good game though, and apologies if it seemed like I was coming at you earlier. Lack of sleep makes me cranky at the best of times
 Don't worry about it what happens in the draft game stays there. Good luck with the rest of the draft.
