Television Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Literally the only star wars series in interested in. Will watch later.

Not sure how I feel about Reva so far. Hopefully grows on me but she seems the weakest link.

Very decent start though and a great end to the second episode!

Good pace and change of sceneries helps this show a lot. While Fett was slow & boring at times, this has qualities of Lucas' SW movie.

Obi-Wan beating the shit out of everyone with his bare hands is great.

I'm super exited by this series but I've come to know Disney Star Wars and, I know Reva is going to ruin it. I desperately hope I'm wrong but I'm almost willing to bet she is going to have the main arc with a cartoon level of evil that then changes in to the main savior making all other characters look incompetent and, any and all criticism is going to be dispelled with accusations of racism and misogamy.

I don't think they'll even have scene time to give her that much of attention, as the whole point of the show will be to confront Obi-Wan with his old demons from trilogy.

I totally get your point, but I just don't see it, at least for now. Imagine having characters in one 6 episodes show like Obi-Wan, Leia, Vader, Maul, younger Luke and you decide to focus majority of character development on Reva...

I hope you are correct. I'm gonna watch the first 2 episodes today; I understand they are very good.

Not sure I can get any further.... the first minute or 2 was just prequel reminders!

Spoilered just for safety, doesnt ruin much:

christ it's like you've already watched the first two episodes!!

Finished both episodes and thought they were absolutely excellent and really makes you want to binge the whole thing rather than have to wait for the weekly releases.

They have got the casting of young Leia to perfection. I wonder if young Luke will make a proper appearance as well but most likely probably near the end or maybe the last scene of the series i.e. the first time he ever meets Obi Wan.

I was watching her Star Wars Celebration interview last night and she said that she hasn't seen any Star Wars before and that allowed her to do things with her own interpretation

My only real gripe and this is with all of these shows on Disney, the first episode is always nearly an hour, then the second one is always much shorter.

I would have loved to have had another 10 minutes in episode two where they flesh it out a little more.

The scenes where the bounty hunters are looking for him, perhaps could have been a little longer, you realy do feel the peril he is in, maybe a few minutes extra of this and even with Bail would have been good.

Reva knowing who Anakin Skywalker was .. aka Darth Vader.. I don't beleive that was ever revealed in Rebels that they knew of his past? - So that was interesting to hear

I enjoyed them!

]I was impressed with the production levels.

Leia being kidnapped is good reason for Obi Wan to leave Tatooine. And I'm really pleased that it only took one episode to wrap that story up. Give us a deep dive Anakin and Obi Wan. I loved the end of Ep 2. Great cliffhanger for, next week. The only thing that I thought looked bad was whenever Leia ran. She always looked like she was going so slow!

I am especially glad that he's not going to be chasing after Leia every week. I liked the Leia actor.

I have not looked to future spoilers but I think it's fare to say qui gon jinn is coming. Just not sure if we will see him as force ghost or just voice.
[/SPOILER
I liked both episodes but they did the right thing releasing both together. If they had only released episode 1 and we waited a week that would have had people on edge about the pacing of the rest.

Leia can border on annoying here. That scene where she got caught was kinda silly the way they filmed it. It looked like they easily should have grabbed her she was running too slow. They needed to film it differently but its a small detail to me.

Did they just open the series with a school shooting

Solid start…
I’m going to assume this grand inquisitor is different to Rebels?

Reva knowing about Anakin has to be because she was at the temple & saw him on his rampage. The transition at the end of episode 2 was awesome.

I actually don’t think that’s always a bad thing, but her acting so far just doesn’t seem convincing. Far too hammy in a role opposite the bleak portrayal by Ewan McGregor.

Meh.
Clearly I had too high expectations and unfortunately it didn't deliver. If the other episodes were dropped, I'd wouldn't be in a rush to finish it. I suspect plenty might feel different, and that's fine. It's not bad, but it's not amazing either, it's just good and hopefully that the story over the season will deliver something better, the first 2 episodes didn't do it for me.

Not even sure why they just dropped 2, as episode 1 was clear filler, getting the story setup, introducing the different characters, (4minutes on recapping), and giving us a small tease of what's going to happened...
Come episode 2 and it's the predictability that kills it for me, among other things. You know exactly where it's going.
The acting at some points was poor, and again, the plot is so predictable, which granted is expected at certain points as the story demands it, but at least make it more intense and engrossing.
Then the action was also short and straight to the point.
That chasing scenes with Leia and the kidnappers, and then again with Obi, cmon like seriously.
I will say that despite what a poster said about Reva, she was the least bothersome character for me.

Anyway, I will wait till the rest of the episodes drop probably, it was alright and I will finish it, but it's current rating on RT (audience rating of 74% and dropping currently) is about right. 8.8 (was 9.4 I think this morning) on imdb, so I expect that to fall lower till about the high to middle 7s as well in a couple days.

Enjoying this so far. Feel like they could’ve aged him up a bit more though.

I don't know anything about Star Wars apart from the movies, so maybe I'm missing something obvious:

How can Obi Wan live 10 years on Tattooine and not know that Vader lives? He didn't exactly hide in the shadows

I think we can assume that he became a hermit as he is described in A New Hope, and Tattooine is also on the outer rim so very much detached from the empire. They generally have no need to go there and Vader himself avoids that planet for obvious reasons.

Fantastic start but I have one pet peeve...

the actress playing Leia does not look 10, more 7 or maybe 8. For some odd reason that took me out the show a couple of times. Maybe because I have a just turned 11 year old.

She is 9 but turns 10 in June, so pretty age appropriate.

Yep, at the very start of episode 1 when the Jedi that is protecting the younglings gets killed, I think one of the younglings in that group is Reva herself.

I think we’ll get to know a lot more about her in this series in terms of how she was recruited to the dark side rather than killed.

Bit dumb in parts but i'll take it.

Who knew Leia's force powers were so strong at age 10 huh?

in a lot of the Star Wars expanded material, it was always hinted that Leia had the highest force potential out of the two twins but she carried her mothers stubbornness but also her fathers temper. So they were concerned that she was too volatile and could go down the same path as Anakin

I think I like these Star Wars spin offs more than the movies.
