St Petersburg metro rocked by explosion

This guy looks scary as feck.

I'm guessing it wasn't a suicide bombing from what's been said so far.
Definitely not. Two bombs, one left in a train, one was left on another station masked as a fire extinguisher (lucky enough they found it before it blew off)

edit: oh, it's actually a possibility again. At first they denied it. Still unclear

Suicide bombings are generally more versatile and reliable as they, for obvious reasons, ensure greater timeliness and accuracy. Its possible the one that detonated may have been one, with the others emplaced at various positions to go off on a timer or as a result of the initial explosion.

False flag operation to allow Putin to crack down on the protestors or an accident of some kind.

This kind of crap is really insulting to the people who died that day. It really doesn't deserve a mention.
I agree with Peter. And what makes it worse is that I think the people who start these 'theories' don't actually believe them, but see them as a means to an end.
pathetic attempt at a conspiracy theory
Always entertaining when we see another conspiracy nutjob reveal themselves.

But wait, why listen to random people when we could listen to you, remember the Boston bombings?

Within in an hour of the blasts Alex Jones was calling it a false flag operation.

There is lots of attention to be had, even money to be made from all over the world in spouting conspiracy theories.

Congratulations. You smashed Alex Jones' record.

Death toll risen to 11 now. :(

The man on the photos is not involved, apparently. Just fit the "profile" too good I guess, and the media couldn't resist. Guy saw the TV, got scared and went to the police.

That's what I read, at least.

To be honest, if we assume that he believes in a theory that 1999 bombings were organized by FSB and Berezovsky to boost Putin's rating and justify the Chechen war, and he does, it's quite easy to go from that to believing that yesterday's events have something to do with him too.

Doesn't make sense though, Putin isn't gaining much from this one, and it's hardly believable that he'd to this kind of thing without a greater purpose, just to switch the headlines from the protests.

Imagine going to the police, when the angry mob can literally kill you right on the streets and the police itself killing you in precaution is also a possibility. Terrifying.

Yeah, his photo after he went to the police is doing rounds on twitter:

The majority of Russians either ignored the protests or view them in a negative light. Putin doesn't need this to strengthen his power, if anything, it's a blow to his ratings, since his detractors would use the tragedy as a proof that Russia shouldn't have gotten involved in Syria (as if it stopped terrorists from attacking Russia many times before or recently even countries like Germany for example).

As for Kasparov, I've already said what I think of him in another thread. He is a great example of how a person can be brilliant at something and be a total nut and moron in other respects.

I love how all these morons have three first names. I'd bet 20 bucks the guy's real last name is probably Rodriguez and he's too stupid to make a living doing anything else so he hopped onto the alt right bandwagon with the rest of the failed English majors.

Authorities in Kirgistan stated the attacker is from there, born in 1995 (German public TV channel ARD). They consider it likely that he also had Russian citizenship.

The death toll is now 14; 48 injured are hospitalized.

He does look fecking scary like. What a shit situation to find yourself in, and ridiculous from the media as per

what's scary about him?

Can see where this is going. Because he looks it a bit, just like anyone can. Not saying he looks like 'the type' to do that kind of thing. More of a villain in a movie look.

I knew it was a mistake to release/leak the earlier picture within a few hours after the attack and with emotions heightened. Felt like it was just to placate the masses.

Social media jumped all over it and that imagery will stick.

No surprise here.

All they need to do is pass their own version of the Patriot Act.

R.I.P. to all the victims.

I suppose that just like many point out US and Western Policy is a huge cause of the attacks made against the US and Western targets, we can say that Russia's policies and actions are having the same affect of making themselves a target.
