1. Nadal vs Federer - Wimbledon Final '08.
2. Champions League Final Penalty Shoot-out '08.
3. The Boston Red Sox coming 3-0 down in a best of seven series vs the Evil Empire in the 2004 American League Championship Series.
4. Queen Mother Champion Chase '05. Moscow Flyer vs Azertyuiop vs Well Chief.
5. Italy beating the Germans in extra time in the World Cup Semi-final '06.
6. The New England Patriots losing Super Bowl XLII after a perfect season.
7. Beijing Olympics. All of it, especially Usain Bolt.
8. Denman vs Kauto Star. 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
9. The Tennessee Titans just falling short as time expired in Super Bowl XXXIV
10. 2005 Ashes Series. I wanted to put a Tendulkar moment in for cricket but couldn't think of a specific one. Maybe his 175 against the Aussies in a ODI a few weeks back.

Thank yooou !

not sure on the order but I'd put the 2006 Ryder Cup in there, as well as Tiger's 2008 US Open win in spite of his horrendous knee pain.

Agree with Nadal v Federer 08 final though, that was phenomenal.

What about Lewis Hamilton winning the F1 title last corner of the last lap of the last race to win the title. There are so many moments.

If Wimbledon final '08 is no. 1 then Winbledon '09 final is at least a good 2nd.
Further, Liverpools comeback against AC Milan in the CL final should be mentioned if we are being objective.

Wimbledon '08 is the greatest ever in my opinion, '09 was nowhere near, and my guy won the second one. The Australian Open Final was easily the best of 2009. Bolt massacring everyone in the Olympics has to be up there as well. I can't really place the 2008 Champions League Final because it's skewed completely by how I felt about it.

Good call on Bolt. Don't think Hamilton's F1 win is in the top 10 of the decade.

Hamilton in Brazil would be in my top 10 just my opinion. What about Wilkinson drop goal to win the world cup in 03 great game of rugby.

#2 shouldn't be on that list. Special for a Utd fan, but not for anyone else. Just another good CL final.

Lezak at the Olympics, 4x100 freestyle swimming.
Phelps at the Olympics, the whole package.
Jamaica in the 4x100 sprint -- phenomenal.

Hamilton at Brazil last year, for sure.

Would be a very, very boring life without sports.

Bolt in the 100m at the Olympics was the first thing to spring to my mind.

The Nadal/Federer Wimbledon final is a good call too.

Bolt at the Berlin World Championships? 9.58..

Great shout.

Barcelona winning the first ever Spanish European Treble by comprehensively outplaying the European Champions should also be up there.

The way this should have been done was by sport, considering any list that fails to list Canada's mens hockey triumph in 2002 is absolute poppycock.

Since when did Horse Racing become a sport and not just an excuse to gamble

When NBC spends millions upon millions advertising all 10 minutes of the Kentucky Derby.

God knows how much money has been spent advertising fecking X-factor but I'd count that more of a sport (akin to the old Roman gladiators) than horse racing.

In any case how much money some american broadcaster spends trying to get americans to part cash for some horse racing meet doesn't make it a sport.

There was a Super Bowl XLII? I don't remember that one, must have been busy watching Ernest Goes To Jail.

As a United fan, the Champions league final was immense and great.

As a follower of football, Liverpool's win in 2005 was a great comeback and deserves to be on the list. I doubt you'll find many "neutrals" that will disagree.

Before you rule racing out as a sport there are a few others you'd need to chalk off first i think.

Just an excuse to gamble? That's an insult to your average jockey surely?

Redgrave winning his 5th gold medal was great, Arsenal's unbeaten run, the ODI between South Africa and Australia where the highest score was beaten by each team and Phelps 8 gold medals. Some of them might not be in my top ten just but were great sporting moments.

No way the 08 final is the greatest match ever played

Exactly. Give me a jump jockey any day of the week over the sort of twats who play virtually every team sport.

I can only think of two W.T.F. moments this decade: LFC v AC Milan and Usain Bolt smashing the 100 metre world record. Everything else is just meh.

Lance Armstrong's achievements in the Tour de France have got to be in with a serious shout

When the feck it all happen?

Lewis Hamiltons title on the last corner is definatly in there.

2009 Round 6 Catalunya Moto GP Rossi vs Lorenzo was probably the best piece of racing I have ever seen, let alone of the decade.

In no particular order, best that I can think of at the moment:

04 Michael Schumacher winning his 7th F1 title
08 Wimbledon final
06 Ryder Cup
08 US Open (Woods battling through knee pain)
05 Ashes
09 Usain Bolt smashing the 100 and 200 records
00 - Tiger Woods (wins US open by record number of shots, becomes 5th player to win career grand slam, second golfer to win 3 majors in one calender year and set or equalled 27 PGA tour records in the year)
03 Jonny Wilkinsons drop goal to win the Rugby World Cup
02 Lewis k/o's Tyson
08 Michael Phelps winning 8 golds

Greece winning Euro 2004 deserves a shout. It might not have been the greatest football to watch, but an amazing achievement for a small footballing nation to upset the odds and win the second biggest tournament in International Football. And no fluke either, beating the hosts Portugal twice and France on the way

For a Liverpool fan maybe, but John Terry hitting the post in the decisive spot kick in the champions league final was not at all 'meh'.
