3-1 up at home to Nani's Estrela, on course for the 10th league win in a row. Not looking anything amazing, especially at the back, but hard to evaluate the effect of Amorim leaving being confirmed.

Brilliant. He's on fire.

What's very impressive is seeing a team 3-1 at home with 20 minutes to go and they all work their socks off tracking back and providing passing options in possession. Very encouraging.

We look class. 30 points out of 30. Back to back titles inevitable.

All eyes are on Gyokeres at the minute. Understandably so. However, I'm keeping my eye on the other player we're being linked with in Trincao.

I already said in another thread that I've rated him for a long time now; having liked the look of him at Barca, Wolves and Sporting, and I'm just looking at his stats this season. He's the top assist maker in the league, has the most dribbles (Gyokeres was surprisingly 3rd), is 2nd in key passes with his teammate Pote being first. All in all, he's seemingly thriving under Amorim so I can see why he may want to bring him here.

Here's a performance of his from about a week ago:

That channel also has a few more performance videos of both Trincao and Gyokeres from about a month ago if anyone is interested.

I thought Hjulmand looked quite good at the Euros. How is he generally at club level?

Trincao never impressed me with Barça and he flopped at Wolves. Do not want

He didn't but my point is they didn't feel he was good enough to keep at the time I guess.
Vitinha didn’t do much at Wolves too and look at him now.

I think Gonçalves would be a nice option, he is a good player and scores a lot.

Trincão is good but not United material I’m afraid.

Don't like the idea of going for former players, this is a completely different level to what Sporting were on.

Trincao has been around for ages hasn't he? he must be around 35.

Not saying they’ll be sure successes, but we should base them on their levels now, not when they were here, as they’ve obviously improved and upped their games. Examples are KDB and Salah, who didn’t have the best times at Chelsea and came back to become the best in the league.

That said, I know nothing about Trincao

Of course teams get stuff wrong sometimes. That's why in my initial post I said 'technically'

It's Mendes' finishing school for talents, him leaving doesn't prove none of the coaches thought he was any good.

Bloody hell, Vitinha is one of my favorite midifielders currently, along with Pedri. I had no idea he was at Wolves.

Surprising what competent coaches can do to pro footballers who have featured in the highest leagues in the world already.

We are just so used to United not improving any players, that we sometimes forget it is not the case at other clubs.

We will all be rooting for Sporting for sure! What a statement it would be to beat City (though depleted)
I think it will be a draw. Sporting won't get a better opportunity to beat City though. City would gladly take a point at this moment in time.

With it being his last CL game at the club, the atmosphere might inspire a home win.

Gonna check this out tonight not just for the whole City/Utd sub plot but because this should be a fascinating tactical battle.

I think there’s a caveat there as well though - some players also just develop at difference rates/in different environments. But yeah, we long for a coach who can implement a consistent style here which would go a long way in getting the best out of our players - either that, or show the rest up.

Very excited to watch the boys tonight, I’ve missed being in the Champions League.

Yep, feels great to be involved again in big European nights under the floodlights of Old Trafford The José Alvalade Stadium.

We'll have moved on from Old Trafford by the time we're back in the Champions League anyway.
