Splinter Cell: Conviction

Sam looks different, maybe it's because he's supposed to be older but he doesn't look like Sam from Chaos Theory and Double Agent. Nevertheless, Conviction looks epic and it seems that they've turned him into a Jack Bauer kind of super agent. I hope we get to where the gear and see some of the old characters. It looks really good and promising but it feels different, then again everything now in the game is different. FYI it's 360 and PC exclusive.

i never liked splinter cell, could never really get into playing it at all may give it a go again though

Sam Fisher on a personal mission without the restrictions of working for a government.

Plus his daughter is dead so no Kim Bauer idiocy is possible unless they go for actual flashbacks as opposed to those awesome looking projected memories.

I didn't bother to play the last one where he went awol. Is it any good?

I'm a Splinter Cell fan so I might not be very objective. I like liked it, it had very good graphics and there was something different that kind of renewed the franchise but it was a bit underwhelming, the way the choice feature was implemented was not what I expected, it was rather poor. I still enjoyed the game though. One of the main reasons many didn't like the game was the fact that the multiplayer mode wasn't as the one in Chaos Theory, which to be honest was close to perfect along with the co-op missions that Double Agent didn't have. It felt like a rushed job, you know come up with a next-gen game as if only graphics matter. However, the original Xbox and PS2 version, which I also bought, was really good. It's very different from the next-gen version with worse graphics but it was a lot better it felt more like a Splinter Cell game.

I'll openly admit i've never been a huge gamer. I had a PS2 but haven't bought a PS3 or an Xbox.

I did like the original Splinter Cell, and the concept of this game looks very good. Sam Fisher as a rogue agent would be immense.

Might well have to invest in a new console afterall.

Just picked it up and started playing. Pretty smooth gameplay so far. Apparently there is a bug right now with the game freezing up, but Ubisoft if aware and working a patch. Hasn't happened to me yet.

The pacing so far is pretty good. Good use of the Mark & Execute feature. The mission "brief" displays on the walls are pretty good. The flashbacks have been done as black and white gritty movies displayed on the wall as well when you are moving through a section. I'm only done with the first mission, but I'm loving it.

Very short but still great game.I love how they have given it a more "action" approach without being too much of it.You can't just around and shoot enemies because with 2-3 bullets you're dead so you need cautious about every situation and think fast.
I love the mark/kill thingy, it has provided me with some awesome finishing sequences.

Splinter Cell is clearly the better franchise. The first two were very good. . .MGS was all glitz and lacked proper substance. Again it's down to preference. Gay choice V a non gay slightly metro-sexual choice.

I've got both and I've not seen much difference if any at all. Actually if anything most of the multi platform releases look better on the Box. Just take SF4 example, it's not as good on the PS3. Frankly after all the PS3 hype I'm more than a tad fecking disappointed with it's graphical capabilities - this is no bleeding wind up and all.

I wouldn't even bother having both consoles.

Why not play on an SDTV then? Why did people bother spending all that money on HDTVs? Maybe you don't care having shitty image quality, but some people do. Why buy a surround sound system if something outputs in stereo, etc. it goes on.

Shitty image quality? Excuse me? The last time I checked 720p was still HD.

Shit image quality my fecking arse mate.

Is this game worth getting if I haven't played the other Splinter Cells? Or should I just get the other ones that have been released on the 360 to sort of catch up?
