Spartacus: Vengeance

Excited we have more Spartacus - but wish it wasn’t a retcon (would have loved a series about Ceasar for example)

A series about the first triumvirate of Caesar, Crassus and Pompey and their respective campaigns and internal machinations would have been something else.

Pompey's beheading at the hands of the Egyptians and then the subsequent head being brought to Caesar, would be fine television.

Man between the Napoleon movie, the Hannibal announcement, the alleged Cleapatra movie, Gladiator 2 and a new Spartacus - I'm drooling. More historical epics please!!

Lucy Lawless back for Spartacus spin-off

Starz‘s return to the Spartacus universe with House of Ashur poses the question: What if Ashur (Nick Tarabay) hadn’t died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance and instead was gifted Batiatus’s Ludus in return for helping to kill Spartacus and end the slave rebellion?

The answer will arrive in the premiere episode via OG Queen Bee Lucretia, as Lucy Lawless sets her return in a guest-starring role “elevating” all that’s around her. Her appearance will be instrumental in setting up the “what if” alternate timeline.

In addition to Tarabay, the series will also star Graham McTavish, Tenika Davis, Jamaica Vaughan, Ivana Baquero, Jordi Webber, Claudia Black, India Shaw-Smith and Leigh Gill

The different timeline thing seems a bit lazy but I don't really care if this results in the return of the show. Can't wait. My favorite guilty pleasure show of all time probably.

This opens up many interesting alternatives for me. They can pursue alternative approaches to Roman politics in the Senate that deviate from established history. Most importantly, it's good to have back the inclusion of various pantheon of gods spreading the cheeks of a variety of freemen, statesmen and slaves and ramming cock in ass.

What a fecking good show this was. Time for a rewatch probably. RIP Andy Whitfield.

@Rooney in Paris thoughts?

Tenika Davis is pretty much the "Spartacus" of this series.

Graham McTavish plays “Korris,” a former gladiator who won his freedom in the arena and is now Ashur’s Doctore, training the gladiators in Ashur’s Ludus.

Tenika Davis plays “Achillia,” a female gladiator driven to surpass her male counterparts.

Jamaica Vaughan plays “Hilara,” a young, elevated house slave, deeply in love with Ashur.

Ivana Baquero plays “Messia,” a house slave in love with Hilara.

Jordi Webber plays “Tarchon,” a brash and headstrong gladiator.

Claudia Black plays “Cossutia,” a politician determined to keep Ashur in his place and is constantly plotting his downfall.

India Shaw-Smith plays “Viridia,” Cossutia’s daughter.

Leigh Gill plays “Satyrus,” the leader of the Brothers Ferox, gladiators from a rival Ludus.
