Depends on the ISP, AOL uses proxy servers to connect you to the net and gives you a different ip address each time you log ongolden_blunder said:

Then I do have a question,if its so easy to identify a user by his IP address then why do we always get all this accusing of people using multiple usernames? Surely you can tell for sure if its someone taking the pissnoodlehair said:
If you use an ISP that uses dynamic ip's and/or that routes users through a proxy, or if you use a proxy to disguise your true origin, then it is difficult to be 100% sure. However, when a ip resolves to a single computer as in this case and nobody else uses this isp AND no other user's ip address is even close then it is fairly easy to tell who it is. Or at least if it is someone using the same computer.
An IP check on here once had me and Slabber down as the same address, even though we're a couple of miles apart. So they don't seem to be very accurate.
