That would be a sizeable improvement in the ball retention department.Fred and VDB out, Amrabat and Mainoo promoted

Get this one done!
He’s inspiration to make it that far with only one leg. From what I’ve seen ambrabat doesn’t have a left foot. Good option for depth at a good price though, hope to get it done.

Strap him to Antony and we will have a good Right foot and Left foot. From what I’ve seen ambrabat doesn’t have a left foot. Good option for depth at a good price though, hope to get it done.
Left foot is still missing.Strap him to Antony and we will have a good Right foot and Left foot.

Overrated opinion.Left side of the brain missing in this post.

For the older ones there was also that 1-0 win in 91/92 when Kenny Brown scored at Upton Park
No, I think you missed the point of the post. Clearly I put the “world class” in speech marks and clearly said squad player “if that makes sense”. Not sure if you’re feigning ignorance or simply missed the point. The first part of this post seems to be an argument for keeping McT because he isn’t good enough to get in the team but will be happy anyway.
The second part doesn’t follow from the first, surely?! He can never be world class at anything. That’s not to say he won’t be useful to have around if we get a spate of injuries. I’d rather we sold him but with Mainoo already injured it wouldn’t be a disaster if he stayed as long as it doesn’t prevent us bringing Amrabat in.
For his own sake he should leave before he turns round and finds he spent most of his career as a rarely-used sub.
If we're shifting from a midfield 2 to a midfield 3, our inbound transfers aren't going to be like for like. We're trying to add bodies not just maintain numbers imo.Like the look of him, should be brought in. However, I'm concerned about our aerial ability in midfield and the team in generally, especially if we sell Mctominay.

I reckon Ambrabat will be bought to sit on the bench alongside McTominay rather than to replace him.
I was at Upton Park that night as we pretty much chucked the title away.We played Phelan and Blackmore in midfield that night. Tired and shite is what we were.
I think he has been brought in to give us tactical flexibility and not purely as Casemiro's backup.
Yeah it has been suggested he is good in the build up phase which we lack in midfield
Doesn’t that sound like Carrick? There's an article in The Athletic that said that he was like the quarterback where he drops deeper to a position between his centre-backs. in the Forientina system.
Doesn’t that sound like Carrick?
I guess it would depend on which part of Carrick's career at United. But yes... he can start spraying from the back; Mount and Bruno can spray from the mid-block etc with willing runners up top.
I can see Klopp calling us a long ball team again.
Doesn’t that sound like Carrick?
Hey if it leads to our first win at Anfield in 7 years then can live with that happening
Vidal saga comes to mind. This story seems to be picking up steam without actually picking up any, if that makes sense. Reminds me of the KMJ "saga" in a way.

Ok, I'll admit it - saw him at the world cup and that's about it. But is he actually any good? So confused as he really doesn't seem anything special at all, and isn't like an out-of-contract option, or a young prospect. If he's a Fred replacement that costs more than Fred, is he actually any better?
Incidentally, Amrabat and Casemiro in midfield is exactly what you need away at Anfield.Hey if it leads to our first win at Anfield in 7 years then can live with that happening

I'm honestly not too fused about this one. Not many people had heard about him before the WC, not like he was a dominant force in Serie A.
Personally, I'd much rather go for someone like Lavia, who at 21 who more many more years ahead of him and is PL proven.
Seems like he mostly passes to team mates, instead of the opposition or the touch line. So yes, I would say better.
I don’t think I missed your point but looks like I didn’t make my point very clearly. He’s not very good. If you can replace a guy like him with someone better, you do it, if you want to win. He’s not good enough to compete for a place in the team so doesn’t belong at a top club. That’s my point. Hopefully that’s clear now.No, I think you missed the point of the post. However I think his character and abilities make him a squad player any big team would be happy with.
Yeah, could be an issue at times. I still want to shift McT though. Will be interesting to see if the height / heading is a problem and how we try to solve it.Like the look of him, should be brought in. I agree that he's not coming in as a straight like for like. In fact, one of the issues I think he'll help fix is our first phase build up struggles when Martinez (our main ball progressor) is out. Him dropping between the CBs to form a back three means he can then take on that responsibility.
That being said, my point about areial struggles is more about the make up of our main starting 11. We only really have two players that are aerially dominant; Casemiro and Varane. In games where Amrabat comes in, in place of Casemiro, that leaves us with only Varane.
This wasn't an issue with Mctominay because he too was very good in the air. His problem was... everything else which, Amrabat does a lot better.
I think we will sell Mctominay and suspect what we may see in games where we expect a lot of high balls and Casemiro is missing is, we may also replace Martinez with Lindelof. To give us that aerial support. Also Onana coming out to claim crosses more than De Gea did, should also help.
