There cannot be any doubt he'd sit at the top table with the greatest.
That assist tonight....just wow.

That would be Xavi.At this point, you have to rate him as the best midfielder of the last 20 years.
Well said. Even without his assist, he still had an immense gameI took more pleasure from his ability to compete and be combative against the likes of Havertz, Kante, Loftus Cheek and Kovacic who are all at least 5 years or more his junior.
I know it's off topic, but it makes my blood boil watching Modric do this at 36 in a game of this magnitude knowing my midfielders cannot even dream of having a chance in that type of battle.
The assist was a bonus, but it was beautiful.
What a player.
Him or Pirlo is the only question really, isn't it ?
Modric just edges it for me. Sublime. That would be Xavi.
The only thing Pirlo had on him was his set piece ability. Otherwise, Modric is just simply better

It's up for debate for me.Pirlo was a better long passer.
That’s not even a question he’s by every metric above Pirlo. Xavi is more likely his comparison.
Yeah, I don't understand why some people feel the need to talk in absolutes. We're lucky to have seen the likes of Zidane, Xavi, Iniesta, Scholes and Modric. If they gave you joy, you won.People talking in ‘Tiers’ is so childish. There are just players better than most players of their generation. He’s one of them.
Even allowing for that…. While Perfect for many teams, he’d be a waste of space in others.
This insane need to have an absolute list in an acceptance order is madness. Obviously some players are better than others, but the 100 best midfielders ever are in a totally different order in 100 different formations under 100 different managers.
Modric by quite a distance in my opinion. He will go down as one of the all time greatest midfielders.I just love Pirlo as a player so much. Exactly my type of player. Modric too. Begrudgingly I also think Xabi Alonso was class.
Scholes or Modric?
Because possession is everything? Its about impact. Modrić has been the heartbeat of the midfield of the most successful modern day club side during his time there. He's up there with anyone IMOGreat midfielder obviously but just when people are saying he’s the greatest of all time, Real Madrid never really take hold of games. Outplayed on the ball in both games here, had less possession and have often had less, relative to any team with Xavi which would dominate the ball.

Pirlo isn't close to the top let's be honest. He was class but like, if say he's more Scholes and Kroos level rather than Modrić, who is part of Xavi/Iniesta/Zidane tier for me.What a player.

Except your bio says you support Sarajevo and my family all support ŽeljoIt's mad how my fellow Bosnian and I have almost the same username and also share literally the same opinions
I just wanted to say that for me Pirlo and Scholes are level below Luka.

I'm surprised the caf isn't questioning how he had that much running in him at 36...
