"Reading both this (Nani thread) and the Evra thread this week I'm convinced that at least half of the people who watch football are completely clueless and in the main, sheep.

I have no idea why I bother defending players on message boards, minds are made up."

Riiiiiight, this place just got weird.

Take it up privately with the mod who infracted you and stop being an attention seeker.

Also Levo delete that too, you know the gif rule.

If he really got an infraction for that I reckon he's right to bring it to everyone's attention.

I agree with the sheep part. People are sheep. Some sites use the term 'hivemind' instead. Both are apt.

Just check out the Madrid/Ronaldo thread. So many people have formed opinions based on gossip and then a few pages later it's talked about as the norm.

Recently the penalty incident with Suarez comes to mind where he got booked for a dive. Someone posted a gif and from there on it was hard to convince people that there was actually a better camera angle available that showed how clear of a dive it was.

Sometimes the opinion of the masses are highly based on the first few comments on each subject and from there on out it just seems to escalate to a common truth.

Best example. Match day threads.

Dear I'm always right,

You have received an infraction at RedCafe.net.

Reason: Insulted Other Member(s)
-------
Insulting over 50% of the people on here isn't really a good way to go.

In fairness I imagine it was in part down to other posts as well. You have a condescending tone most of the time. Your username could not be more appropriate.

Hardly surprising coming from someone who totally disagreed with me in the same thread, but cheers for that.

I've posted the infraction above so you imagined wrong, but if you're gonna start infracting for a posters "tone", well....

Insulting people just because they don't agree with your opinions on a couple of players, combined with your overall attitude in general...I think it's worthwhile to point out it's not conducive to good debate.

It's one infraction point. You need 5 for it to even mean anything. Why would anyone be outraged about something so utterly harmless and minor? Infraction points are just a way of conveying a point from a mod's point of view when a PM hasn't gotten anywhere. I can understand why people complain about bans, but you need to have a moan about it in public too? Fits in with the whole attitude I think.

Don't be outraged. I got a lifetime ban from the United forum for claiming the Nani's goal against Spurs in 2010 was a complete joke. Sometimes you just get unlucky.

I would dare wager there was more to it that than.

I think someone's deserves a ban from the admin forum. Clearly hasn't learned his lesson.

Actually brwned, had you wrote something about my attitude I wouldn't be outraged. But you said it was for that post, which quite frankly is ridiculous. And well, I'm also not sure how impartial you are when it's clear that you are in disagreement with me regarding Nani.

I must have missed that PM.

That post has nothing infractionworthy.

And you can't infract based on a posters "attitude". It's too subjective. Pogue constantly tries to belittle everyone else's opinion that doesn't suit him. Yet he was made a mod. Not sure how you can decide who's attitude is fine and who's deserves an infraction.

I reckon calling half the forum clueless sheep is worthy of at least an infraction point.

We see much worse than that on a regular basis though. The point is that there are lots of posters who get away with much than what this chap seems to have done. It's a bit selective. Anyway, an infraction isn't very important anyway I guess.

Infractions mean little, it becomes relevant when you are conistently earning them. It wouln't have been for that one post either. It's not a big deal, I was infracted a few months ago and somehow I've managed to come to terms with it. Also the forums have different rules and we moderate each one depending on that, so for those pointing out harsh or offensive posts from those in the General, it's not at all relevant.

Also I'm fairly sure the mods don't go round selectively infracting or banning people because they don't agree with their school of thought. All you need to do is PM them.
