Slaughterhouse - The most talented HipHop group Ever?

I think so.

They're album is going to be crazy. Leaked a new track the other day called Woodstock - lyrically insane as per usual.

It varies from song to song...at the moment my favourite is Buddens...but that just because of his style...lyrically, I think Joell is crazy....

Joe Budden has always been a special rapper just a shame he is quite a bum in real life lol
And Royce's pedigree speaks for itself

Thats the best thing about the group every member is strong nobody carries nobody as they can all stand up. It also makes every song great because they are all hard spitters they always bring a gam so as they aren't out shone by other members of the group
 
Definitely not the most talented for me. I think they are good though, they all suit each other as a group, and the production varies from average to spectacular.

I'm looking forward to the album though.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge these guys, yeah Wu Tang are better...but there is so much room for improvement here. These guys could easily be the best ever.
 
Good... but thats about it.

Joell Ortiz and Crooked I downgrade when they're with the group... Royce is nasty good so he can't falter, Budden ups his game to another level when he's rapping with these guys.

1) Not even close to a logical or fair comparison... HsJ may have over-rated them but he's not far off as the title suggest "The most talented" because you have a quad of the most talented emcees ever, and it's not a stretch to say that.

2) Say what you want about the Wu, it was beautiful music and amazing concepts, which is testament more-so to the RZA then the group in terms of lyrics and flow... they're legends, there's no comparison.

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't put Joe Buddens or Crooked I anywhere near the most talented mc's ever. Royce is good, but not spectacular. Joell is probably the best out of them, and he is still nowhere near the real classic artists.

Lyrically, they don't come close to real lyrical demons like Jeru, Afu-Ra, Big L, J-Live etc.

For me, they are an excellent group in this day and age, but comparing them to the classics, such as Wu-Tang, is just wrong. GZA probably has more lyrical talent then all of them put together!
 
The LOX are hit and miss there new album under the D-Block guise is poor plus lyrically people like Sheek don't stand up.

I disagree with Hectic, how much of Budden or Crooked have you listened too both are very good and you seem to have dismissed both. Crooked I is probably the west coast's most lyrical rapper and Joe Budden's 3 sides to every story >>>>>
 
Its really Hard to see past the Wu tang clan, the impact and influence they have had on Hip Hop i doubt will ever be topped. And for Lyrics Gza and Killa Priest are hard to beat. And of course Production early RZA was awsome.

But for me my fav hip hop group has to be the Gravediggaz..i feckin love em.
Also have to have love for PE, EPMD, Onyx, TCQ.

Why isnt it a fair comparison? they are both hiphop groups arent they?
and this thread is about 'the most talented hiphop group ever'

of course the RZA's beats was a large part of it but the first round of WuTang solo albums were all instant classics and showed plenty of MC talent.

I will wait for the album until I judge but I cant see this Slaughterhouse stuff being anywhere near the all time classics.
 
I've got everything Buddens has done, and he is hit and miss. Has the ability to be amazing on certain tracks, sometimes he falls off. Crooked I is good, I have 5 mixtapes and a couple unreleased albums, but again, I don't rate him with the greats.

I think they are good, but they need to work on production, the mixtape was good for the tracks that they produced, they went over a lot of shit beats which was a shame. I can't see them anywhere near the great groups like

Black Moon
Boot Camp Clik
Gravediggaz
EPMD

CORN is probably the most talented Hip-Hop group to exist, they just didn't make enough of it and decided to go their own ways and become individually shit.

Cam'ron, Murder Mase, Big L, Bloodshed, Digga and McGruff.

Can't even recognize cam'ron or Mase now.

Brand Nubian, Geto Boys, Naughty By Nature, Slum Village, Hieroglyphics etc....

I used to love them before they were big, back then Big Pooh was more on point. When they lost 9th Wonder, that's when they started slipping for me.

Still bump their old shit, the early Justus League shit and their stuff back in 2001/2 is untouchable.
 
Little Brother are at the Jazz Cafe (london) in less than a months time.

I went to it the last time they were here and it was dope. Any one from here going?
 
Geto Boys is a good shout - was always a fan of Bushwick Bill - that guy is hilarious.

NWA surely worth a mention as well

I went last year or the year before, probably the year before. They were great, very uplifting and active, made a difference.

I doubt I'd go again though.

Yep, and no doubt he would have fallen off too.

But you listen to Corn and you have to wonder just how good Cam and Mase could have been had they kept that up.

Spot on...

I wouldn't rank Jo Budden in my 50 greatest rappers of all time let alone top 10. Royce is good, but slightly over rated due to some stand out tracks and collaborations with Eminem...Lets face it Boom propelled him up the ladder more than his own considerable talent did.

Thing about Wu-Tang was that they where quite ahead of there time. Rap lyricism has got better through the ages as the bar has been raised and some of the acts of the early 90s wouldn't cut it anymore. GZA & Inspectah Deck were better than some of these guys 15 years ago (and Big L was on a different planet to them) and hardly anyone can touch Method for flow and delivery even if his lyricism has fallen off in recent years. They created their own genre and were a complete tour de force when they arrived...I very much doubt these guys will be...they're good, but certainly not better than Wu, even when you account for the 'inflation' type upgrade in lyricism....

They are definately much better than most though
 
I think a lot of you are being overly critical of them to be honest.

Listen to hiphop weekly, which to me was a classic series of songs, that along puts Crooked in the top 50 of all time.

But the point here was that they have talent, however if they realise their full potential, they could be the best ever. There is no real competition out currently, so they know what sort of level they need to be at, and they are well capable.

Yeh I went to the same one mate. I agree, very active.

I think I will go again, may aswell - always nice to get out to a gig and I love the Jazz Cafe :)

Still the Jdilla tribute gig at Cargo was better for me.
