Sir Alex Ferguson Tribute Thread

I've never known another manager. For me he is Man Utd.

Even though this hurts right now, inside i'm proud that we had the privilege of witnessing his reign here. This will be talked about for generations to come and we can say that every word of his legend was true. What he's done for our club and football in general is no exaggeration.

 Thank You Sir Alex!

My favourite memory I have of him was meeting him at Hyde United.
He was so patient and kind with my daughter, signing autographs and answering her questions.

A lovely man.

I do not remember a Man Utd without Sir Alex,
brave new world now for me... this has not yet sunk in at all.

What a man. LEGEND and thank you for everything.

2007-2008 team is my favorite Fergie team tbh. Great defence, the best in the world at the time IMO. Fantastic attack, clinical and with lots of flair.

A sincere thank you to Mr. Manchester United. It will never be the same.

I honestly to think it's sunk in yet, all i know is i've got a sick feeling starting in my stomach and i only had one drink last night.

Nobody can ever be as good as him.

Nobody will ever be as United through and through.

Nobody will be as big a winner.

He has became United manager before I was born so I haven't known any era without him an manager. I know that a day it would happen, but I wasn't thinking that much about it. Imaging United without him is alien.

Anyway, it is hard to argue against him being the best manager of all time. What he did for us was incredible and it won't happen again.

Thank you Sir Alex for the great memories!

All I've ever known in my life is Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. I fecking love the man. We all knew this day was coming but it still hurts.

I've never really had any idols but I always admired his principals. The trust in youth, patience, determination, belief and most importantly, passion. His other side too, looking out for people, never forgetting someone, defending people, family values, etc...

It's been an absolute privelege witness his era.

Legend of a manager and legend of a man.

The greatest manager we`ve ever had!! Even eclipsing Sir Matt!!

The finest tribute anyone can offer is that he has walked the league this year with a very very average side. Only The Wizard could have fashioned this shower into champions! I would bet a quid to a pinch of shit that whoever comes in, no-matter how high profile, will have a barren few seasons.

It is fitting that the great man should go out at the top!!

Its certainly going to be interesting to see how the kids on this site react to a period of trophyless restructuring.

Thanks for the fantastic years Sir Alex .. from here on its going to be a bumpy ride!

Simply the greatest manager to have ever have lived and we're so lucky to have had him. I'm absolutely crushed right now and never actually thought it would impact me in this way. It feels like a bereavement. He's managed this club since before I was born. I'm 25. So grateful for everything he has done for us.

He'd been manager for 6 years when I was born FFS. 6 years is an eternity now in Football management.

I really thought he was staying atleast for couple of years more. Its shocking. Absolutely gutted.

No tribute can be enough fro what he has done at the club. Next season will be the first time I see someone else at the helm, it'l be criminal. Just wrong.

I just don't have the words.

He's been more than a manager, he has been the heartbeat of Manchester United since I was 7. I'm now 34. That's astonishing.

Thank you Fergie.

I actually welled up at the news.

Thank you Sir Alex. 26 fantastic years, and a lasting legacy. Legend of legends.

He should lift the trophy on sunday, and that will probably reduce me to tears

Thanks a lot Fergie.

I feel numb, in shock. Fergie is Manchester United.

Thanks Sir Alex for all the trophies, all the great players, for investing in youth, for knocking the scousers off their fecking perch, for Barcelona 99, Moscow 08

Hope he has a long, enjoyable retirement

The list of things to thank him for is too long. Thanks for EVERYTHING, Sir Alex.

I was a United fan 2 years before SAF took over from Big Ron. He didn't have the best of starts but once he got going the destiny of the club changed forever.

Please stay healthy and enjoy your retirement. Thank you SAF.

The main tribute I can say is that this feels like we're entering a brave new world when in reality he is just a football manager.

Just amazing, when you think he has peaked he always managed to go one better, First delivering the title we thought we'd never see, then topping it with a double 12 months later, then the treble season, then turning Wenger into a gibbering loony, and overcoming Chelsea and Cities billions...........no one else could have done all that, Thank you so much for all the memories.

feck. Always knew this day would come, and in the back of my mind I had a nagging doubt it would be this summer if we won the title, what with the stand and statue, but christ this is hard to take.

He's papered over the cracks in recent seasons, and replacing him is going to be the toughest thing this club has done in terms of management, more so than Busby I feel. The man is just that good.

Wish him luck in his retirement, and thank him for all he's done for this club. He'll be dearly missed. The word legend doesn't even cut it.

I think this will always be my favourite Fergie moment. I wasn't really old enough to appreciate winning the league in '93, so it has to be this.

I actually welled up at the news.

Thank you Sir Alex. 26 fantastic years, and a lasting legacy. Legend of legends.

So did I, and I'm sat at work. Not a good idea....

All I've ever known is Ferguson at United.

Great manager, certainly one of the best, if not the best ever. I was in my teens when he'd started at your club and certainly in my mind, when you think Manchester United, you think Sir Alex Ferguson.

He leaves behind a brilliant career, beyond comparison to any other in terms of longevity at one club and overall success on a pitch.Loved and adored by MU support, hated by their rivals, but respected by everyone.

Well done, SAF. You'll be missed.

I was reading the program on Sunday and I was not getting any inkling he was off. Just shocking.

Nicely said.
