Def good stuff; make sure you keep us posted on the completed project!it’s my first real proper corner! Used always be at the main tv, then my wife became pregnant so she slept a lot on the couch in front of the tv as it was the only place she could get comfortable.
so I then got a small coffee table and put our secondary tv on it in the corner of the same room. That worked until our little boy arrived and now it’s a padded area with toys and playmats!
then with lockdown happening at the same time, I gradually moved from the kitchen table to upstairs to work for quiet as the baby started making his presence known- the rest was what i posted above!
it’s a work in progress for sure. Still need to move some shit out (upstairs is generally unused, it leads to a walk-in attic) like old couches and some filing cabinets.

I was dead against getting a lighter desk or even white, but having put a few black items into a white room, I don't want to darken the feel of the room (unless intended: night, movies etc.) so having to give that some consideration now, too.
I hope I don't have to go bespoke as that'll be painful on the pockets.

If it starts to get a bit too loud for my liking I'll reassess.
I really need new speakers and a couple cable tidy. Work on the left two. Nonsense on the right. Switch the left monitor to join home pc at end of the day.

I got the above for £175 back in April. I’d wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday to see if it or any of the other units comes down in price.
My secondary table and light strips arrived today. My work/play area is now complete, until I get a new 27-32" monitor to replace the temporary 32" HD tv. It's cosy

I built one of those DIY ambilights from an RPi and Arduino into Hyperion, I think it looks mint. The pictures definately don't do it justice. Need to align my IKEA cabinets so they don't look as ratty, and I'll make some sort of MDF top for it so it's not so obviously £18 cabinets...

Yeah, they take to being upcycled quite well - need some short copper wire feet and handles.
Phillips do a non-addressable version (each side of the TV is one colour) for about £400 but it's underwhelming. The Kickstarter projects (DreamScreen, Lightpack) have mostly died with Hyperion but you might get one on eBay for £200? The DIY one isn't too difficult just a bit fiddly and less than £100.

Nothing too exciting. Couple of ancient monitors that were low spec when I bought them, IKEA desk and mouse pad. £5 pub chair I bought in a charity shop. Love the keyboard with the lights off though.
Living room setup is about as dull as humanly possible. I'd like to mount the TV on the wall if this lockdown ever ends and my dad can give me a hand.
I bought a set of USB LED lights from wish for the back of the TV for pennies. They genuinely looked great, but they wouldn't stay attached to the TV. Weird that the actual LEDs were great but the sticky tape was the bit they cut corners with
