Show Status

Alcatraz looked amazing but as someone said I can't see it sustaining itself for over a season. But that one season could be worth it!

Terra Nova looks great. Lost+ Avatar+ Jurassic Park. Looks too big for TV though. Be interesting to see how the story progresses.

And no one liked Awake? Check out the video and don't be put off by the woman shown!

I would guess the ratings aren't great. Even I really liked that show. Good story and good acting but these channels love to take out anything that's not getting super ratings.

CM: Suspect Behaviour canceled too.

This is why I've adopted a new rule where I don't start watching shows until they've been given at least a second season.

Following a show only for it to get cancelled after one season is very unsatisfying.

It's a good thing I've not see too many episodes of No Ordinary Family and The Event for the last few months then :nervous:

Mentalist got another season I think :D

I think I need to do that too henceforth. Very disappointed in No Ordinary Family going bye bye.

Although Flash Forward last year, I somehow watched it til the end out of boredom, it had a surprisingly good finale but I'm so happy it got cancelled.

Man, network shows just seem to be getting worse than ever, and people pay JJ Abrams a big paycheque just so his name will give their show a bit of a headstart, that Alcatraz shows looks nearly as bad as that Undercovers show that randomly had his name on it. He's basically like Spielberg for TV.

Terriers and Lights Out already got cancelled though :'(

Alcatraz and Terra Nova will get a look from me i think, this past year i chose The Event (gave up after 10 episodes) and Breakout Kings (watched about 4 episodes)

 same here. 11 episodes of The Event and 5 of Breakout Kings but with Justified,The Killing, Borgias and Game of Thrones there isn't much time to watch the rest.

The Event is a bit more streamlined now, its basically us vs them. No real side arc anymore.

Quite disappointed about No Ordinary Family, it wasn't ground breaking tv or anything but it was an easy watch and very enjoyable.

Awake actually looks quite good. Think it could have been a movie though

Seems as though No Ordinary Family had a decent viewership. It may be hope against hope but I'd love to see it brought back, a bit like Chuck. I genuinely thought the show had legs.

Alcatraz and Awake both look pretty good for next year. Does anyone have a full cancellation/new/renewed list? I want to see if there's anything worth picking up next year.

I meant as in I can't really remember many people disliking the show. For example, none of us are happy to see No Ordinary Family go. On the contrary (and this is coming from someone who's watched it), Outsourced has been cancelled with all of us expecting it to happen and no-one particularly mournful. This is why I drew comparisons to Chuck. It might not be for everyone but those of us that like it truly do enjoy it.

Do you see what I mean?

Also, might the viewers have been tampered with because its air schedule went haywire at the end? I think it was even on Saturdays at the very end! Overall I must say I'm shocked, I thought it was a really well polished show. A tad gutted too, as you can clearly see!

Am I the only one who thinks the only American TV drama remotely worth watching these days has all been on HBO?

There are a few on other stations.

Showtime are another private network that have good shows, like Dexter.

And AMC are good, Breaking Bad, Mad Men.

For consistently brilliant TV though, HBO are the best in the world. I can't really think of any bad shows they've made. Hung is the worst I've seen but it's still good.

It also helps that they've huge budgets and no restrictions on language, sex violence etc, unlike the public networks.

Oops. Thought they were on HBO.

Ok, HBO and AMC it is.

All the rest seem to just churn out crap, especially the national networks. Lowest common denominator in action, I guess.

Don't like House either.

Both Dexter and House are like a load of other American TV shows which are almost - but not quite - good.

Lost would be another.

They all start off interesting enough but lose the run of themselves and get really formulaic. Plus they're never quite as dark and edgy as they think they are.

Dexter is far far far better than House or Lost or 24. And it's on Showtime isn't it?

The Killing is on AMC as well.

Yes I think that's fair enough

The Killing is pretty good. Very good murder mystery based on a very successful Danish version.

CBS have Dexter

They make it, for Showtime.

I don't rate Dexter.

You're one in a million then. Brilliant show.

Oh I actually forgot FX, they do come out with good shows. Nip/Tuck used to be brilliant, lots of people (not including me) rate Sons of Anarchy very high. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Justified with that Timothy Olyphant guy is supposed to be brilliant too.

Oh and The Shield, Rescue Me..

Yeah FX are good.
