I think the FA cup is almost worth going for, but the Worthless cup is the new youth cup. Only Liverpoo try and win it.

It should be for League clubs only.

The best league in the world is probably the Spanish league at the moment.

The Cup : yes, of course
The Worthington Cup : no, who cares about this useless competition . Although if our B team wins it, it will be a good thing.

Whats wrong with our defence? I think they have been v good this year. They have improved exponentially on last year, so I certainly wouldn't put them as a reason for us not winning anything this year??

Winding you up am I?

Oh yes I remember winning the league in 93. I've probably been a United fan longer than you claim to be. I also remember winning the European Cup in 99 and that was by far the sweeter.

United's tradition has always been to aim for EUropean glory. It has been ever since the Babes, if you remember.

Now you have to ask yourself, do you really want United to be the best (which considering you're a Birmingham City fan you probably don't), or are you just a parochial cnut like those who ran the FA in the 50s?

Btw, the Man yoo is a dead giveaway.

rajjjiiiiiiiii you feck nut, you talk so much shite, obviously a dirty claret in disgusie and by the way do you even go to the games or are you another plastic one that started supporting the team when we started winning. You just talk gob shite.

Keano made it clear in his book that the players don't care about the FA Cup, and I personally think that this isn't good, because defeats or victories in the FA Cup give confidence, or dent morale. You can't turn form on and off, and you get into bad habits if you don't take each game as seriously as each other.

I couldn't agree more. Plus, I also feel, as a long term fan, a debt of gratitude to the FA Cup. Back in the bad old days, it was the only trophy that sustained us in the barren years, and it may also have been the trophy that saved SAF's job as United manager in 1989/1990. Furthermore, the FA Cup was, once upon a long ago, the only competition to win :D and yes, in the modern day, other competitions may have taken over in importance, but the FA Cup deserves eternal respect for its tradition and history as the inaugural football competition.

However, with regard to the Worthington Cup, again I agree with you Neil Thomson.

It should be for League clubs only. /QUOTE]

You mancs may as well try and win one of them because you have no chance of the CL or PL .
:D

Yes, good question, given that Liverpool are really down the dumper and have been for the best part of over a decade.

Compare the Liverpool of Keegan, Toshack et al with the likes of today`s team who can dine out on a victory against the mighty Alaves in the poor man`s European Cup. Sad - for Liverpool supporters.

I am actually replying to michaelowensmum`s question - So what went wrong?

Poor bastard - as a Liverpool fan he must be asking himself that everyday.

Like it or not, the Worthy and FA cups are not what they used to be. We can do without any potential suspensions and certainly, any more f****ing injuries! We should play the younger players in the early rounds of both and in the later stages, should we progress, introduce the regular players. If we are in serious contention for CL and/or PL - as we should be - we continue with the younger players. We are not liverpool and desperate for the West Lancs Darts league trophy!

It seems we still need one or two more years to remove the complacency and arrogance of some of our players and fans. They have all forgotten the joy to win "just" the FA Cup.
