Should we buy Callum McManaman?

He does seem like a big prospect, will be interesting to see where he ends up next season. We have already bought one winger prospect in Zaha so we really don't need another, if we are to buy a winger we need some genuine class to add to the first 11.

Already a thread, but played out of his skin yesterday.

We seem to have the prospect of losing Nani and maybe Young... And from his performance yesterday, McManaman would be a very good backup option to Valencia, if not an outright first choice sometime during the next season...

Yeah so to replace them with 2 inexperienced youngsters wouldn't be wise, if we do end up losing Nani we need a ready made class player in my opinion. We have been linked with Rodriguez ,Di Maria and even Bale or Ronaldo...although the later 2 are probably unlikely we need somebody of real ability on the wings. If we hadn't have signed Zaha id have said yeah sign him up, bring him in as a prospect/squad player but we dont need 2 of those in the squad when the first 11 is already lacking a top quality winger.

Had a good game yesterday but a lot to prove before I would consider a big money move for him as the lad at Sunderland left winger Irish lad was at the same stage last season and he's not good enough.

Reminded me of Adam Johnson. Needs to play like that for a lot longer than a single game before he's ever discussed as a United signing.

Can't see Young going anywhere tbh.

To be fair, he's been playing decent football since the Huddersfield game. Scored 3 with his right and 2 with his left foot this season. He does need another season at least before clubs start to look at him, but then if Wigan get relegated he might get snapped up.

The whole game I was thinking, 'If only Valencia played like this for us this season'

Should we buy him? No! - at least for the time being

Not yet, I would like to see him go to a bigger team first. I have only seen him play a couple of times but he seems to be highly rated. He needs to prove himself before making a step-up to a team like United.

I've always liked Watson as well. Shame he broke his leg. At his peak when he broke into the scene a couple of years ago I admit I thought he be a good signing.

Flavour of the week, flash in the pan; must deliver consistently for us to seriously consider him.

If Wigan get relegated, and we can get him on the cheap, no harm in signing him and loaning him out and see how he progresses. If his end product comes together he could become a very good player.

Looks promising but you'd need to see him doing it for at least another season before making a proper judgement.

Reminds me a bit of Albrighton's first season, and he's not kicked on.

I'm a fan, and I'd keep an eye on him certainly. That said, I echo the sentiment that since we signed Zaha, not much point, we need the finished article, or something closer to it.

If this were Serie A, we'd probably buy him, and he may go on loan to various clubs for the next few years, which would be ideal, but not how it really goes here. If not for the big-club bias in England, I'd say Mcmanaman would have been called up for England by now, he's been top draw since January.

He's had a number of good games for Wigan since he burst into the first team, even if his most high profile moments were his game yesterday and when he should have been sent off for a bad tackle a month or two ago. He's very fast and got a bit of a trick on him even though hes not particularly technical, he'll beat his man. He's also scored a number of goals which is a good bonus

We should be in contender for player like Hazard, Mata, Isco, and all other coveted wingers in Europe

No disrespect to McManaman, but if we bought him it should have been for the future, with our squad decimated with losing Rooney, Scholes, Giggs (41 years old), and our winger have been abysmal for much of last season , we need instant impact players.

Much to be known whether Zaha can cut it week in week out at such a young age, and we can't afford to blood another winger, specially with a new Manager in charge, there's just too much at stake.

I recommend that the focus for an acquisition be on Ronaldo or Bale, not on McNamaman.

However, I do like his game. Let's watch him for another season and if the need arises then let's assess whether he's the man for the job opening.

James McCarthy is the one we should sign. I don't think McManaman is that good, he can do something great, but then he often ruins it by being clumpsy.

He'd improve the likes of Liverpool or Everton, but I'm not sure he's at the level we need to improve on what we already have.

Did anyone see Robbie Brady for Hull against Cardiff? Reckon he'll be next years surprise small club winger who impresses everyone.

He raped Clichy more than Lennon rapes Evra. Great performance from him and never even heard of him till saturday!

If he's consistently playing at that level he did during the final, I'd throw £15M at Whelan.

Considering the positions he gets into he should really score and set up more, don't think he completed a cross yesterday and really should have scored after that pass from Kone. Did almost the exact same thing earlier in the week against Swansea. He has a trick and is fast but needs to do it for longer than 3 months at the end of the season.

I think people are being very harsh on him.

He only has half a season playing top flight football and if his wiki is correct 39 games in total playing first team football?

If that was Zaha on Saturday, everyone would be wanking themselves saying he could be one of the best player in world with more experience.
