I have an xbox system, which if I sell will fetch me $100. The price for an xbox 360 console here is $699. Which basically means I'll be paying $599 for it. I would really love to get it, but I still feel the price is really high for a gaming system. Now you cnuts, please tell me the pros and cons of getting it.

i was thinking of getting one as well. the main reason is i wanna play GTA4 when it comes out and its only gonna be for ps3 and xbox..
but i think both consoles are still too expensive
I have it and I love it, it's well worth getting if you want games but if you want power then go for the ps3.

If you want quality gaming with advanced graphics, and you're not against those odd gaming pads, You can buy it and have fun because there are many games out there on XboX 360.

It is a PS3 for me. Always had a PS1 then a PS2, so when the time is right I will invest in one. Just have to wait for some games too come out. Not saying there is anything wrong with the XBox, At the moment they are cheaper and there are far more games, just not for me.
i just read somewhere that GTA4 will be an xbox exclusive...apparently microsoft paid 50 million to make that happen.

Right now, the 360 has better titles and more games available. I love my 360. Granted, I'm getting a PS3 when the price comes down and more titles come out.

Get second hand one's. No shame in it, they're about 20 quid (around 30 euros I think).
This is what I do ... ebgames.com you can get 'em used. If you have a European system (PAL I think), I'm pretty sure it will play NTSC games, so order them from the States.

Sony have some exclusives as well though I read. Chances are it'll be shitty little things like extra cars and clothes etc.
Not a fecking chance. Talk was that GTA IV would have to be on multiple discs for 360, PS3 with its Blu-Ray would have it on one. No way in hell Sony would let Microsoft have it as an exclusive. Not a chance.
Anyway, to answer your question, depends what games you want. Personally i have and always will prefer Playstations. Technically PS3 is a more advanced machine, i do however have both a 360 + PS3. But i can tell you now, any multi-platform game that comes out, i will be getting for the PS3>360. Only reason to buy a 360 now would be the collection of 360 games out already, whch to me aren't that great, and Halo 3 if you like the series. It seems that all other big games are going to be multi platform, and PS3 is just better than 360.

My kids got an Xbox360 for Christmas and it started killing disks in march.Sent it back still not repaired in June.Get the play station its far more reliable.
The blu-ray discs will not be reliable at all because they have single layer protection

If you want to waste your money, go for it.
How about waiting a while and then getting a bit of superior hardware in the PS3 (in waiting a bit it will have a lot of new software - there is shit loads about to come out for it), and you get a Blu-Ray player into the bargain. You cannot say fairer than that.

I blame Nintendo for these very silly controllers (the knobcheeses are still at it). We used to get on perfectly well with a Konix joystick.
What are they? Sounds fun.
The original Konix joystick was ace, you could stick it up you bum and everything. It's a disappointing aspect to modern game controllers than you can not so easily have sex with them.
