Good game @prath92 even if you couldn't really be involved. We could have made it later in the week if that would have been better for you to be involved.

Wow, surprised at the outcome tbh. I thought @prath92 had a good team on the whole and zero sheep. Well debated to win this I guess. Congrats @P-Nut0712.

Yeah it's a sheep draft so you can't just write teams off with sheep otherwise it's a pointless exercise. I covered for him as best I could. Hopefully now I can build on that moving forward and free up my attack a bit.

Both players were absolutely dominant in their peak, so the head-to-head records should be pretty instructive here, whatever they are.

If I've got this right then going by raw stats Vidic had a very creditable record against Drogba, who managed:

1 goal and 0 assists in 3 CL matches
1 goal and 2 assists in 7 PL games (he got another assist in a 2007/08 season match but Vidic had been subbed off injured already)
1 goal and 0 assists in 1 FA Cup match

for a total of 3 goals and 2 assists in 11 matches against Vidic. In Drogba's defence I included matches when he came as a sub so those 11 matches weren't all 90 minute appearances for him.

Interestingly enough, Vidic and Drogba both rated each other as their toughest opponents

Overall, I felt Vidic acquitted himself excellently against Drogba and he'd be one of my first choices to come up against him. It's good to see Drogba getting such a prominent gig in an all-time draft though. The raw stats don't really do him justice, although he did have some prolific individual seasons. An absolute menace of a centre forward who required constant monitoring and created so much space for others as a result. He's certainly not out of place in drafts in the sort of battering ram role that Elkjaer is usually deployed in, dragging defenders around and creating space for an elite strike partner or AM.

Yeah I obviously checked all this and just cherry picked the games I wanted to, I'm obviously not going to argue for my opponent.

I'm all honesty though, it's hard to quantify Drogba in this respect. Take the game I originally pointed towards. He doesn't score for the Joe Cole goal, however he takes Vidic out of the game by completely bullying him. As said earlier though that wasn't peak Vidic, but the point still stands he's a striker that provides so much more than goals.

I think I've used him before in drafts and struggled to get the reception. Glad he is actually being appreciated here though, especially with a player like Di Stefano working off of him.

Isnt Drogba a really massive peace/Heath advocate aswell? Away from his outbursts on the pitch seemed like a top guy.

As far as his peak goes, he was as unplayable at times as any PL striker of the last 15 years.
