STOKE AGREE SHAQIRI FEE

According to Sky Italia sources, Stoke have agreed a £12million fee with Inter Milan for Xherdran Shaqiri.

It is now up to the player where his future lies, having spent just six months at the club. He signed on a four-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee during the January transfer window

Will probably do very well in the league, good signing for that fee.

There must be a reason why he gets dumped by Inter after 6 months? Maybe he is just rubbish?

Bad attitude? Ie has all the talent in the world, but doesn't push himself. Will probably look better in a midtable team as he won't need to work as hard.

Stoke have been consistently spending large amounts of money for the last few seasons so it's not as strange a transfer as it first seems.

So Inter have agreed to sell him after just 6 months but he hasn't actually agreed to go?

Looked good in the WC when he grabbed a hat trick. Ive never been overly convinced by him and he obviously isn't cut out for a top club. Would be a brilliant signing for Stoke, though. Albeit, if he does go there, he's obviously using them as a stepping stone to bigger things. How many seasons will he be there before looking to move? Look at Lukaku already.

Good move for all parties involved. He's looked out of his depth at Bayern and Inter though.

He's a fairly talented and physical player who will probably do better for a smaller club who can build their team around him, especially in a league where he doesn't need to be as tactically apt.

And to think this guy - or rather his brother/manager - thought he deserved a place in Bayern's starting line up...

He's wasting his talent big time.

Saw this on twitter

If you look at Shaqiri's career backwards, it's a story of a boy from Stoke, who then played for Inter and then joined Bayern to win the CL

What the absolute feck. Wouldn't have minded us signing him last year... feck me, Stoke? Good for them I suppose, have Bojan too.

Premature, but could this be the signing of the summer? Would be a massive coup for Stoke and with the likes of Bojan, N'Zonzi and Shawcross they are building quite a decent side.

another "been there, done that" case.

boy, look at your countryman Wawrinka and draw some tips from him

It really shows how much money is in the PL now that so many lower tier teams can go for big talents.

Shaqiri to me looks like a future star if he pushes on. Bit of an if there. Liverpool should be signing him, right up their street.

Talented player but feck me, Bayern -> Inter -> Stoke. Joke.

He's still just 23, more than enough time to get his act together and have a good couple of seasons and go on an upward spiral again.

There's something not quite right about the idea of this front 4:

N'Zonzi Bojan Shaqiri
Jonathon Walters

Haha not bad. Bojan is similar, I think he won the CL at Barca.

Hugely overrated on the caf due to a few decent performances vs one of our worst ever teams. Never got a kick at Bayern and been lousy at Inter as well. Decent player but no world beater.

Surely it would be:

CM N'Zonzi

Shaqiri Bojan Arnautovic
Diouf

Fair play, that is one impressive front 4 for a mid-table club. Could easily challenge the Europa League contenders next season if it goes to plan.

This is why the TV money in EPL is rightfully distributed and not all of it is going to Real and Barcelona.. Let them bang 5-6 in every game when we have the best league by a mile..

Gotta say I liked the "old" Stoke more, now they are challenging Arse and the other top clubs in different way, which might bring them problems.. But the quality of the squad is obviously much higher than say 2-3 years ago.

Serie A reject attack.

Don't know why we aren't in for him at that price, we were heavily linked with him around Jan. This is bizarre though, Stoke? Something drastically has happened for his stock to fall so quickly in a space of a year, probably a misfit but he still has the talent to turn it around.

You're mental. Hughes has them playing decent football (Liverpool supporters should know that ).

From a good World Cup and a Bundesliga title to feeding Crouch 12 months later.

N'Zonzi is off.

Stoke are building a decent attack up with Bojan and now him. Certainly enough to solidify top 10 and work towards the Everton/Liverpool level.

81 appearances and 17 goals in 3 years tell a slightly different story.

More accurate to say he had a starting place for a season or so, but then lost it over the next two.

Lot's of late sub appearances replacing Ribery or Robben doesn't mean he's getting much game time. Kagawa has 57 appearances in 2 seasons for us but I doubt anyone would say he was a regular.

Clearly some kind of masochist. From Basle to Stoke would be bad enough as a lifestyle move but Munich and Milan in between and he's still only 23

Exactly. And he was often made to look slightly better than he was as he often came on and scored late goals during routs etc. Not a bad player but I was always surprised he went straight to Bayern from Basel. I always expected him to make a slightly lesser move first like Xhaka going to Gladbach.
