Shanghai Shenhua set to sign Tevez

was more to do with us buying berbatov and messing him about his second year .. One of Fergie's biggest mistakes which I'm sure he knows now.
didjt rio say he was a shit trainer as well

We offered him one but City offered him £280k pw and his owner a £47m fee. Compared to our £125k/£25m offer easy choice seeing as he had no loyalty to United. Don't think Ferguson was that fussed on him either to be honest.

I was sure he wanted to resign with us? But Fergie just didn't want it.

Maybe he did at one point, but my opinion is City made contact early in that 08/09 season and from that point he was only going there. We met his asking price and from what i remember Ferguson said he never even gave United an answer so make of that what you will. As i said though i don't think Ferguson was too fussed he left, good player but too much nonsense surrounds him and his antics are unprofessional at times.

'set to sign' always reminds me of getting that giddy feeling when about signing an awesome player in the CM series.
Yes! brilliant. And it reminds me of teletext "club swoop in to sign player x" "ronaldinho set to sign for st mirren" I'll always remember

Nothing precious about not being a great believer in cash before family. He's a multi millionaire, not like he needs the cash. Greed isn't something people should aspire to.

Is it really greed if these two years could ensure that his great-great-great grandchildren never have to work?

How do you know he isn't doing this for his family and not himself?

Anybody else suspect that these numbers are hugely inflated to attract media attention?

Why would they overpay like that? Specially since Shangai is an amazing city.

It really is an amazing city. That money is eye watering, fair play to him - take what you can get.

With this sort of money logic goes out the window. I find it funny how football fans on an Internet forum randomly decide that earning additional £30m or so should not make a difference to Tevez because he's already earned a lot during his career. It's basically more than he used to make for 5-6 years for a short period of time of playing mid-level football in a nice city. He can come back home after that, he has already taken a pay cut to join Boca and did very well for them, he can do what he wants now.

Vast majority on here would change their job and move to China for two years if it meant earning five times what you make.

Why would anyone want their children or children's children to never have to work or achieve anything in life?
I care not what his reason for doing it is, I simply disagree with the general attitude that money should be the deciding factor for a rich person or any other person who isn't on or below the poverty line.
There is far more to life than chasing $$$$.

Except in the real world money is extremely important. Tevez' children/grandchildren probably won't go through life without a job but they also probably won't go through life without, say, wanting to go to university or getting sick or encountering opportunities where having a lot of money opens doors for them. Tevez is in a position to guarantee these things for his family for generations to come. That doesn't stop being an amazing opportunity just because you've moved off the poverty line.

Because it's China and despite Shanghai being an amazing city you'd still need to way overpay to get anyone to go out there.

To be fair I doubt kids who have been raised by Tevez will really go to university and get a degree, as harsh as it sounds.

People talk about loyalty but how many of you would leave your current jobs for triple the wages?

We see United differently from pros in that it is work for them and a passion for us.

You understand why Tevez gets more stick for doing this than say Jackson Martinez or Ramires, don't you?

Is it because of his switch to City and his "I want to be closer to home" comment before he moved to Juve?

Part of it, most definitely.

Also the way he acted towards us when he switched to City. Not going to get into why or how he ended up at City, but he was completely classless when he went there. It stands to reason that he'll be disliked here in my opinion.

What I don't get is why the are massively overpaying the clubs?

I get that they need to pay the players shit loads but surely Chelsea would have snapped their hands off at 35m for a bench player in Oscar? It makes zero sense.

Wow, I hope Juve gets a part of that fee. We let him go more or less for free to Argentina.

Fair enough, do not blame him at all, if i was offered triple wages i'd move in an instant.

Anybody else suspect that these numbers are hugely inflated to attract media attention?

That's what I think. When a player heads to the US for free the headline is that he's gone to a nothing league for a cushy retirement. These preposterous fees are intended to make headlines about the Chinese clubs as an economic force.

Gus: Carlitos, come on, mi amigo, we need you here in Shanghai.
Carlos: Nah, I dont speak the language
Gus: don't you worry, we have 3 translators here be with you 24/7,
Carlos: but I will miss the foods in Argentina,
Gus: 10 mil plus you have Argentina foods every days just for you.
Carlos: Okayy..., but I might miss the weather in Argentina
Gus: ffs, Calitos, 20 mil with artificial weather home and stadium for you
Carlos: erm, but you know, I miss my hometown a lot
Gus: 30 mil a year, Carlitos
Carlos: just for you, mi amigo.

I honestly cannot believe what is happening with Chinese football league. 72 million fee for Tevez? It's madness. His wage is totally out of proportion with the world. I wonder how much tax he is paying on his reported wage? I work 50 hour weeks stressing myself out and having sleep problems teaching and he is getting per week after tax what I get working nearly 20 years. Let me say that again 20 years.

Carlos, a poem...

Carlos, I can picture you now eating noodles and Warakter,
Weeping as you try to learn a single Chinese character.
A pound a second....You should be put to death.
But Carlos, at least the smog will guise your breath.
Tevez Tevez Tevez yakamiti natamoto
Carlos, there you go again ruining the team photo.

It is indeed weird and fishy.

I think the 72m includes the wages for the 2 year contract aswell. I read the transfer fee was around £10m.
