Shanghai Shenhua set to sign Tevez

People say 'money grabbing' like its a bad thing.

If my career was on its last legs and i was in a profession that sees people retire at 34, there's no way i'd turn that money down.

Thing is, even if your in your prime it would be very difficult to turn that kind of money down.

Definitely. Maybe if i was at an elite club challenging for the top honours, but it's no surprise that the likes of Ramires and Hulk end up out there.

Isn't there a problem when it comes to Chinese courts and enforcing contracts that makes all these deals seem better than they actually are? I'm not sure about the details but I think I read that somewhere recently.

He just wants to be closer to home.

Wasn't one of his complaints about playing away from home and that he'd rather play in Argentina for less money?

I guess everyone does have their price and that's ridiculous money.

Good for him. He seems like a cultural open minded guy who'll pick up the language in no time. Nice to see a bit of cosmopolitanism amongst footballers.

Wonder how our resident Juve fans feel about this. Moaned his way out of Turin because he misses home, goes to China less than two years later.

Id take a job in Shanghai in a heart beat if my wages were increased 5 fold. Its a great city.

Anyone who doesn't take the last pay day is an idiot imo.

Fair play to him. That's an amazing pay packet if true. If you said to almost anyone that they could earn more than they've ever earned before all while past their best and close to retirement, they'd snap your hand off.

If he has sensible people around him he'll never have to work another day. Can't see how anyone could blame him for that.

So anyone who is rich enough and wants to be near his family and kids would be an idiot to not chase more cash? Some people just think cash makes you happy, how shallow and sad...

Thats a bit precious isnt it? He's lived his entire career like that, what is 9 months if he can then support his family for their entire lives.

Plenty of people live away from family at periods without having the financial luxuries he would have to regularly fly home.

A 9 month jolly to live in a new culture and get paid shite loads is hardly becoming estranged.

People are shallow and sad and that is an awful lot of money to turn down.

9 months away from your kids and then the ability to spend every day with them thereafter? I'd take it.

I like Tevez, don't care what came after his time with us. He always gives his all for his team when he's on the pitch.
