Quaranta is already a United youth team player, he isnjust finishng this years MLS and fliyng over next season to join the the rest of his youth mates at OT. As for Donovan, the lda is really good but he is a Bayer Leverkursen player on loan!

jedi master say:
out: yorke, wallwork, rvdg, fortune,p.neville , irwin , stewart
probably get around 12mil-14mil quid from these
in: thuram, finnan, duff, di Canio
probably have to spend around 17mil for thuram, 4mil for finnan, additional 3-4mil for duff, 2mil for di Canio...
that would mean we'd have an additional 5-8mil to blow, of course assuming the board do sanction the said 20mil....would very much like to hear what other jedi think of this....

I think it would be Yorke + cash for either Jansen or Duff, rather than them giving us cash.
As regards your 'outs', I don't think there will be a mass exodus as Fergie knows how critical squad depth is.

We've still got that young american keeper, Rachubka (sp?), though I don't know if he'll ever be good enough to play a premiership match for us. Fortune leaving would be a problem, not sure who we'd get to replace him, and we haven't been linked with many left-sided wingers who are happy to be squad players. Hopefully that means it will be the youth players stepping up if he does leave.

I heard that Rachubka will leave.
Fortune leaving won't be a problem. Even if Fortune stay Fergie still prefer to play Scholes, Ole or even Veron there when Giggs is absent. Of course it is better if we can have a natural LW to backup Giggs, but the purchase of two defenders and one forward must take priorty, and after doing that I doubt we will still have the money to buy a backup LW.

What? That lot would cost a MINIMUM of 60 mil. Rai will go on a free, as will Denis Irwin. The most we'll get for Pip, Fortune and the Hasbeen is 10 mil. Do you really think SAF will have a transfer kitty of 50 mil?
Are you as comedian by any chance?

Just looking through the posts it is amazing just how many people could leave this summer.
Those almost certain to leave will rake in at most 15m, mostly from the youngsters, fortune and yorke, but will lower the wage bill dramatically. So to do any real buying, to replace these players, we'd have to sell a/some big money player(s). Obvious choice being Veron (or in my nightmares - Scholes).

If Fergie want to sell a midfielder that can only be Veron. I reckon Fergie won't be so foolish to sell Scholes.

agreed.
Scholes will never be sold if SAF is still the manager.
I reckon SAF will still keep Veron after his comments although I hope we can replace him with someone who is more suited to our style of play. (I don't care what others say)
Out:
Irwin (free)
May (free)
Johnsen (free)
Blanc (retire)
RVDG (retire)
Fortune (work premit)
Wallwork (seeking for 1st team footie)
Yorke (time to be sold if he really can't be arsed to play)
Barthez! (that's a maybe)
P.Neville (speculations, but I reckon it's a small possibility)
Tell you what! I reckon there will be some unexpected transfers of some youngers if fees were offered (eg. Chadwick and Djordjic)
In:
Steele (already bought)
Di Canio (he will be the 3rd striker moving Forlan to the 4th)
Thuram
Ayala
1 left back and 1 right back with cheap prices.

I think Fergie has his eyes on these players:
GK: Cheeky move for Buffon? SAF rates him as the worlds best. Martyn/Given/Cordoba. Someone older who wont get in Carroll's way in a few years.
Defence:
Lizarazu, Petzoglu(?)- either one would seal Phil Nev's fate. Liz = unlikely, Petzoglu as understudy for fullbacks = GREAT!
Striker:
Rivaldo or Kluivert as our 4th striker. I think we have great chance of getting Rivaldo for budget price (relatively)
Summary:
In
Mexes - Barthez + £4m or Phil Neville

Buffon? How many millions do we have? He signed for Juventus for mega bucks last summer, was a success and won the title. No chance in hell. Frankly, same goes for Thuram in my mind. The reports on his 'sale' are nonsence, especially not for half price (13m??? ).
Signing one full back won't seal Phil's fate, two will though. If we sign one we'll have the new player, Gary and Silvestre which is simply not enough (especially if the new one wouldn't be two footed). A player to replace Phil is just not a priority. And where does the idea come that we'll send him and Barthez to France for someone else?
Rivaldo would be handing the title away again. He is simply not a team player.

I don't like Kluivert's attitude. He's arrogant (though I'm told that is the Dutch mindset). He could be a disruptive influence. However, if he did come, Fergie's the man to keep him in check.
