Seriously Though.....

Quaranta is already a United youth team player, he isnjust finishng this years MLS and fliyng over next season to join the the rest of his youth mates at OT. As for Donovan, the lda is really good but he is a Bayer Leverkursen player on loan!

As regards your 'outs', I don't think there will be a mass exodus as Fergie knows how critical squad depth is.

Hopefully that means it will be the youth players stepping up if he does leave.

I heard that Rachubka will leave.
Fortune leaving won't be a problem. Even if Fortune stay Fergie still prefer to play Scholes, Ole or even Veron there when Giggs is absent. Of course it is better if we can have a natural LW to backup Giggs, but the purchase of two defenders and one forward must take priorty, and after doing that I doubt we will still have the money to buy a backup LW.

Think of isnt United one of the worst clubs in player negotiations???We always never buy a player and we always having trouble selling players.

IN: One defender of proven quality: Ayala or Thuram

One player who can, at last, "unlock the european defences", as veron was bought to do... Most likely: PDC.

Out: Veron, Irwin, Barthez

What? That lot would cost a MINIMUM of 60 mil. Rai will go on a free, as will Denis Irwin. The most we'll get for Pip, Fortune and the Hasbeen is 10 mil. Do you really think SAF will have a transfer kitty of 50 mil?

Are you as comedian by any chance?

In: Thuram, Holfland
Out: Blanc, Irwin, Fortune, Webber?, Yorke

Here's what I would do as GM/CEO/Owner of Manchester United:

Out:
Yorke (part exchange for Duff)
Irwin (free transfer)
May (free transfer)
Fortune (to anyone for 2-3m)
Veron (swap for Nesta)
Blanc (retire or free transfer)
Van der Gouw (free transfer)

In:
Nesta (swap for Veron)
Ayala (10-11m)
Duff (6m plus Yorke)
DiCanio (3m)

2002-03 Lineup:

---------------Barthez---------------

Gazza-----Ayala-----Nesta-----Silvestre

Becks------Keano----Scholes-------Giggs

-----------RVN--------OGS-------------

Bench:
GK- Carroll
FB- Brown, Phil
CB- Johnsen, O'Shea (Brown as 5th choice)
WM- Duff, Chadwick (Djordjic as 5th choice)
CM- Butt, Stewart (Duff as 5th choice)
ST- DiCanio, Forlan

Use the 4-4-2 at home both domestically and internationally.
Use the 4-4-1-1 away for Europe (DiCanio as the withdrawn attacker)

I know Veron may someday become a legend at Old Trafford, but I'm willing to trade him for Nesta and let opposing attacks try to break through a Nesta/Ayala partnership. Scholes was a world class player before Veron's arrival and did not deserve to be dropped. Let him re-gain his place alongside Keane.

Just my four 'penneth. Anyone who wants to go, should be allowed to go, and we need to get our wide options back.

OUT :
Barthez :(
- Unless he really wants to stay

Any one of Veron, Scholes or Beckham
- Time to stop fecking about with this one. We have 3 world class players all wanting to play in the single available central midfield slot. But which two want to stay the most ?

Then the usual suspects...
Fortune - :( because you can see in the guys eyes he really wants this, but it's just not going to happen.
Irwin - thanks Dennis
Johnsen - thanks Ronny
Maysie - sorry Yaps
Van der Gouw
Yorke
Wallwork

IN:
GK (Assuming Barthez goes)
RB (First choice)
CB (First choice)
CB/CM Utility (Back-up)
Wide player (First choice - get the balance right)
Target man (Back-up for Ruud)

Admittedly based mainly on 3rd party reports.
Blood / More opportunities for :
Reserve keeper (Williams ?)
O'Shea
Stewart
Timms
Chadwick
Djordic

I'd keep both Nevilles and Butty, but I don't know think any of them would be in the first choice eleven.

Keep Larry on as occasional back-up, and use his experience in a coaching capacity to help develop Brown and O'Shea. Could save us millions in years to come.

Just looking through the posts it is amazing just how many people could leave this summer.

Blanc - retire
Johnsen - free
May - free
Irwin - retire
Fortune - sold as work permit not renewed
Yorke - sold
Raimond Van Der Gouw - retire
Rachubka - sold
Ronnie W - sold
Webber - sold to watford
Thats 10 players almost certain to go, 4 centre backs, one full back, 2 goalkeepers, one midfielder, and 2 strikers
And thats not including the maybes:
Barthez - sold
Phil - sold
Veron - probably not sold due to comments made by fergie, though he should be, if only for the money

Those almost certain to leave will rake in at most 15m, mostly from the youngsters, fortune and yorke, but will lower the wage bill dramatically. So to do any real buying, to replace these players, we'd have to sell a/some big money player(s). Obvious choice being Veron (or in my nightmares - Scholes).

If Fergie want to sell a midfielder that can only be Veron. I reckon Fergie won't be so foolish to sell Scholes.

Firstly I put a devil sign on Rivaldo meaning that that was a dream move. i.e Fantasy land. I ut else after and put the names Duff and DiCano. Realisticlly they are the ones Fergie will get instead of Rivaldo. :o

Then, expect none of uour stars to be sold. Even those like Scholes and veron who have under performed because what United needs is strength in depth like asrenal not reduction of depth by selling stars. ;)

agreed.

Scholes will never be sold if SAF is still the manager.
I reckon SAF will still keep Veron after his comments although I hope we can replace him with someone who is more suited to our style of play. (I don't care what others say)

Out:
Irwin (free)
May (free)
Johnsen (free)
Blanc (retire)
RVDG (retire)
Fortune (work premit)
Wallwork (seeking for 1st team footie)
Yorke (time to be sold if he really can't be arsed to play)
Barthez! (that's a maybe)
P.Neville (speculations, but I reckon it's a small possibility)

Tell you what! I reckon there will be some unexpected transfers of some youngers if fees were offered (eg. Chadwick and Djordjic)

In:
Steele (already bought)
Di Canio (he will be the 3rd striker moving Forlan to the 4th)
Thuram
Ayala
1 left back and 1 right back with cheap prices.

when I say "1 right back and 1 left back with cheap prices" I am refering to other possible transfers, I am not refering to Thruam and Ayala

We know Johnsen, RVG, and Irwin are leaving. I suspect Blanc will leave (he has been adamant that he will retire - but said he would consider Fergie's offer to stay on one more year out of respect for him. Hardly inspires confidence that he will stay.)

May will probably leave (Bosman free).

Yorke is certain to leave.

Fortune will have to go (permit)

Wallwork seems to want 1st team football so will probably go.

Veron will definatley STAY. Sir Bobby Charlton was on radio 5 last night and was insistent that he will not be sold and defended Veron to the hilt.

Barthez is a strong possibility to go. (There has been no denial from him or the club a la Veron.)

Phil Neville will definately STAY. He is a squad player. Happy to play a supporting role and is versatile. He is not, nor will be, a first team pick, but he is decent cover for injuries.

IF, and it's a big if, Blanc can be persuaded to stay then UTD will sign a world class centre back to play alongisde him next season. We all know the names that have been bandied about. I suspect that UTD are seriously pursuing most of them (Fergie stated last season that it is their policy to pursue a number of players in the hope of signing 1). Thuram, if the price is right, would appear to be favourite. He was no 1 target last season and UTD were only scared off because of Juventus' staggering bid. Blanc has proved that defenders over 30 can still play at the highest level. Thuram still has 4 top season's in him. He also wanted to come last season.

Nesta is very doubtful. Would be terrific. Price would be extremely prohibitive in view of the need to strengthen the squad with so many leaving.

Ayala is back up in case Thuram falls through.

Samuel is a non starter IMO.

IF Blanc doesn't sign up - why should he? He's fulfilled his ambition of playing in the CL and really has nothing left to prove - I suspect that UTD will sign Hofland as well as Thuram or Ayala.

Finnan has been in the frame and could well be bought.

I suspect that Fergie will have another crack at signing Kluivert. He has been a massive fan of his and will be alerted to the fact that he will leave Barca this summer. Also, a few months back, Kluivert stated in an "On the Ball" interview that he expected to be playing in the PL next season. He wouldn't say who for but smiled knowingly when asked if it would be at UTD or Arsenal.

Failing that, Anelka is a strong possibility, especially as Liverpool have cooled on signing him (Kanoute seems to be favourite).

Duff, maybe as part of an exchange, is also a possibility.

Final comment, I've read on the Forum that Fergie has £20 million to spend. Kenyon stated on Five Live the other day that no budget has been agreed. They will consider the players that are leaving and what needs to be done - especially defence than decide how much needs to be spent. Sounds positive to me.

:)

Only because Veron didn't make the impact we all expected and hoped for.

Next season will be Veron's season. Just ask Wenger!

IN MY DREAM!!!

OUT - Van der Gouw, Irwin, May, Johnsen, Fortune, Yorke.
(6 players and 6-7 mill. for the sales)

IN - (an experienced backup goalie), Zanetti, Thuram, (a cheap 3-4mill. unknown central defender), Di Canio.
(5 players and 40-42 mill. for the buys)

So will Fergie gets the 35 mill. he needs?
Not a chance!!! Damm stingy board!!!
Probably Veron will be sold after excellent show at the WC for about 30 mill. to balance things up.

Personally, I don't think we'd turn it down if Kluivert were to be made available.

I think Fergie has his eyes on these players:

GK: Cheeky move for Buffon? SAF rates him as the worlds best. Martyn/Given/Cordoba. Someone older who wont get in Carroll's way in a few years.

Defence:
Lizarazu, Petzoglu(?)- either one would seal Phil Nev's fate. Liz = unlikely, Petzoglu as understudy for fullbacks = GREAT!

Finnan/Wayne Bridge - Only if we miss out on our main targets.

Thuram, Mexes, Nesta, Desailly - Fergie's number one targets. Will miss out on Nesta and hopefully land Thuram for discount AND Mexes in swap deal. In the event Mexes stays put, Fergie will move for a stop gap in Desailly or Finnan/Bridge.

Samuel, Ayala - no. If we miss out on all our targets above then maybe Ayala.

We need at least 3 cos Irwin/Johnsen/May are out already. Blanc? I dont think 3 is too much of a stretch cos Phil Nev may leave. Thats 4/5 out and 3 in.

Mid:
Duff for cash+Yorke.
Right-side midfield needed, possibly incoming fullback can fill this role.

Striker:
Rivaldo or Kluivert as our 4th striker. I think we have great chance of getting Rivaldo for budget price (relatively) cos he is unsettled and Barca want to replace him with Riquelme ASAP. They cant as long as he stays (max. non-Euro or something). The fans dont like him and he is disillusioned with Camp Nou. Problem is his demands.

That may mean one of our midfielders might be going. I have a feeling Veron will be staying though. Dont know whats gonna happen here.

Other options are non-starters i.e. Crespo, Cisse etc. Although we need a pacey type to latch onto that great service from Beckham et al.

Summary:

In
Keeper - cheap. Under £4-5m.
Thuram - £13m
Petzoglu/Bridge/Finnan - £3m-£6m
Mexes - Barthez + £4m or Phil Neville
Duff - £7m plus Yorke
Rivaldo - £14m or player swap deal.
OR Kluivert - £15m

Total = 6 players in for £23m - £38m depending on variations. Are those prices too cheap?

Out:
Yorke - swapped
Phil Neville - swapped
Fortune - £3.5m - £4m
Wallwork - £2-3m
Barthez - swapped
Webber - £3.5m
Surprise regular 1st teamer to leave?

Total: £9+ million. 5 plus those already out plus some more reserves out.

Buffon? How many millions do we have? He signed for Juventus for mega bucks last summer, was a success and won the title. No chance in hell. Frankly, same goes for Thuram in my mind. The reports on his 'sale' are nonsence, especially not for half price (13m??? ).

Signing one full back won't seal Phil's fate, two will though. If we sign one we'll have the new player, Gary and Silvestre which is simply not enough (especially if the new one wouldn't be two footed). A player to replace Phil is just not a priority. And where does the idea come that we'll send him and Barthez to France for someone else?

Rivaldo would be handing the title away again. He is simply not a team player.

Out: Johnsen, Yorke, Wallwork, Rai VG, Fortune, Irwin, May
Maybe out : p.neville, Blanc …
Losing 5 defenders might be too much of a risk

In: Thuram, Duff, Di Canio, Stephen Carr (wait until Xmas to purchase him when he has proven his fitness again with Spurs, best full back in England when fit!!)
Maybe in : Gallas or Finnan

If rumours about Barthez wanting to go back to France are true then Mondragon of Galatasaray would be my first choice, second would be Sorensen.

We still have not used the Stam money!!!

since we r the richest club in the world i will not consider money an issue!
IN-Thuram,W.Samuel,Javi Moreno
OUT-Irwin,Johnssen

That's cos UTD are still trying to prise it out of Lazio. ;)

I don't like Kluivert's attitude. He's arrogant (though I'm told that is the Dutch mindset). He could be a disruptive influence. However, if he did come, Fergie's the man to keep him in check.
