Serhou Guirassy

Maybe that could make him consider to accept a generous offer if it comes in this window. I don't think he's turned to shit or anything, but it's probably a lot more lucrative to negotiate with 17 goals in 14 games than say 24 goals in 34 games.
But that's the whole point of that discussion? It will probably need a generous offer to him, he won't move for similar wages than what he gets currently if he already rejected "better" offers from an even much weaker position in the summer.

Gundogan, Sané and De Bruyne have done just fine for City. The problem is we keep signing shit players for big money and then coaching them badly. This lad is a cheap punt and would still be worth £15m to somebody, as long as we don't pay him way over the odds on his wages, even if he hadn't torn up any trees in 18 months' time.

Ermmm… my point exactly!! We keep signing crap players but let’s go sign the guy who’s 27 who know has ever heard of before.

You've never heard of the guy who was outscoring Harry Kane before he got injured? I think it perhaps says more about you than the player himself.

Looks like he is staying for now, the release clause can't be triggered any more for this transfer window.

You think an expired release clause can stop us?

I find it incredible he went to dortmund for 18m when we so desperately needed a striker option. 14 gls all comps now

all i can find is that he failed a first medical, as he was carrying an undiagnosed but minor knee injury from international duty
Maybe it was this I had in mind and the local Stuttgart fans blew it out of proportion. If so, sorry for the confusion!

Said it at the time, he was a no brainer of a signing. Mind boggling if we didn’t enquire but who knows what went on.

Would have cost less than half of what Zirkzee cost for more than double the striker…

The only smart business Dortmund made in the summer, so really not a transfer topic anymore.

yes hadnt realised this was transfer forum, i thought it was a player forum, apologies mods

17 goals in 25 games for Dortmund this season in total. I haven't seen too much of him, so I'm just speaking of the numbers, but I cannot fathom why we were not in for him. He moved for only €18m in the summer.

Probably better to watch players before you decry us not buying them mate.

Have said it before in this thread I'm pretty sure, but if we did not at least try and sign him last summer and saw Zirkzee as the better signing from a squad building and financial perspective (at more than double the price), then that's a genuine concern. He would have been the perfect foil for Hojlund at 28 y/o, would have suited ETH's system better than Zirkzee and also now Amorim's system far better too.

No. 9's are a rare commodity these days and we either didn't do enough to convince or we passed on a good one at a measly €18m.

Having watched quite a bit of Dortmund (mostly to make fun of them) I do agree with him. Guirassy is doing a good job and proving that last season wasn't a purple patch. And he is doing that in a team that's just as troubled as United.

6 of those this season have been penalties, however he's having a decent season. I'm pretty happy we didn't go for him on the back of one good goal scoring season in the Bundesliga and targeted a much younger profile with potential in Zirkzee. He will be 29 in March and according to reports in Bild there was an extra 15m in sign on and agents fees on top of the transfer, plus his wages are getting close to double that of Zirkzee.

Sure. The total sum might still've been pretty high, and that's perhaps why we didn't go for him. But at 28 he would've been a very good alternative to Højlund at 21. Would've taken a lot of pressure of him. I just think it would've made very much sense. Doubt it would've taken double of Zirkzees wage to convince him to sign for us, but that's just me speculating of course.

Probably would have been in for him had Ruben been in charge when he was available
